This powder from Elizabeth Arden contains ceramide and Vitamin C to boost the skincare benefits of the makeup. I purchased it as part of a buy one get one free deal at the Elizabeth Arden outlet for $19.99 making each of them about $10 each. I bought both in the shade 02 which is a little on the lighter side but the powder doesn’t actually have all that much pigment to begin with so it was fine.
The packaging is very bulky and tall, especially with the storage compartment on top for the useless travel sponge. I don’t use it but I imagine if you like that type of applicator it would be great for traveling. The jar is very heavy and definitely looks like a prestige product in the appearance. The shimmery gold on top is a nice touch and looks nice on my dresser. I know this isn’t a selling point for most but I appreciate the effort regardless. Elizabeth Arden cosmetics have beautiful, classic packaging!
As for the powder itself, it gets the job done. My skin is ridiculously oily no matter what I do so I can’t really speak to how well it controls oil. It does leave a nice matte look without looking caked on or powdery. I use a fluffy makeup brush to apply it. It’s really a life saver when I’m only wearing moisturizer with SPF on no makeup days. It always makes me look so shiny and slick- this powder mattifies my face without looking like I’m wearing makeup. It blends nicely on top of foundation as well.
My only issue with this powder is getting it out of the container and getting it onto the brush. It comes out all crumbly and weird. It balls up in the lid where I try to put it on the brush. I usually tap off the excess and that helps get it back to a powdery consitency but no matter how hard I try it gets powder in the air while I’m trying to get it on the brush if that makes any sense. My only idea as to why the texture is so strange is the addition of the skincare ingredients. I also saw soybean oil as the last ingredient which may be another culprit. (Probably not the best for oily skin like mine but it’s too late for me because the outlets don’t take refunds.)
Would I repurchase? Eh, probably not. I like the normal ceramide setting powder and the texture and packaging on that one was easier to use although it costs more. I couldn’t really beat this great price on the high performance powder though. If you happen to get to an outlet store and get it for a great deal like I did, then by all means, purchase it! For the full price of $35 each though, it’s a hard pass for me. I like the skincare benefits but the texture and difficulty of getting it on the brush just isn’t worth that price.
