Trophy Wife is one of my favourite Essie colours. It is a gorgeous teal blue with a slight shimmer. It applies smoothly and easily, and is opaque in two coats. Trophy Wife is also one of my fastest drying Essie polishes. The colour goes very well with my NW20 skin, though I believe it would flatter all skin colours and undertones – it looks great when I have a tan! It doesn’t chip easily at all, even with only two coats it will still last me at least a week. It even lasts for a week without base and top coat. This colour would be great for summer, I absolutely love it.

I found this color to be streaky during application, and it took forever to dry! There are mixed opinions about the application, so may be some of us got a different batch then others? I love Essie and I think the color is nice and versital…. it works well with my medium skin tone but I bet it would look good on darker OR lighter skin too. It is definately on the funky side so I can’t wear it to work (I have a corporate job that is very conservative) so I applied it before a long weekend. I wouldnt use it for a regular weekend because of how long the drying took.

My favorite shade during the winter month with a matte topcoat. Easy to work with formular. Opaque in 2 coats. The metallics are not streaky… Lasts 4-7 days with top and basecoat depending on my activities.

Throphy Wife is a green/teal shimmer polish. It is one of those polishes that I can’t decide if I really like them or not, because sometimes it looks too green, other times too teal depending on the lighting (or maybe it’s just me! :)). I didn’t have all those issues reported by other girls applying it, I think the formula is actually quite good. It’s between a metallic polish and a shimmer one. I like to wear it in the summer (it is amazing on toes) but also in autumn. I think I would repurchase it, because it’s quite unique.

This is a fun color – and I prefer it as a pedicure as my conservative office would not appreciate it as a manicure, I fear. Nevertheless – this irridescent teal-y-green is funky and fun. And my 9 year old loves it, too. (She can get away with it better than I can). 3 thin coats looks even better than 2, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, it is not so easy to apply and I found that a few drops of lacquer thinner (even on a newer bottle) helped. It gets a little gloopy and uneven. (Again – try for 3 THIN coats) and let it dry.

I bought this colour as my first Essie bottle
As it was unique. I was a bit skepical on Essie because of all the negative reviews and it was so expensive!
2 bottles (including treatments) for 20 dollars (Save 14 dollars)
I know, I live in Australia and prices for American nail polish is so expensive!
At first, I was dissapointed in the brush size because it was to small for my long nails and makes it streak. I got the hang of it after I did about 3 fingers (And I needed to put atleast 2 thick layers or 3 thin layers)
I was able to touch my polished nails in about 5 minutes. And then I put the Essie good to go top coat on
It looked so good!!!
I’m going to review it now!

Gorgeous deep greenish teal.
Unfortunately, a horrible application. Streaky, gummy, awful.
I’m torn; is the gorgeous color worth the headache of applying it?

I got this polish as a birthday gift, and I absolutely fell in love with the color. It was gorgeous, it was a deep turquoise with a hint of shine in it and it really popped on my olive skin. However, the application of this polish is awful. It’s streaky, and slow drying. Even with a mere two coats, the polish stays tacky for at least a good 2 hours or so. One dried, the polish itself is strong, and chip resistant, but it is definitely not worth the 2 hour wait! I’m finding with more and more Essie polishes that solid colors have perfect application, but colors like this that are mixtures and have an “extra” effect almost, such as sparkles, the application is terrible and the drying is painfully slow. The color is gorgeous, but not worth the price. I will not be buying this product again.

I just recently bought this polish and tried it right away! I was so intrigued by the beautiful color in the bottle (a deep metallic turquoise/aqua) and by the name, yes I’m guilty :s
As with all Essie polishes it stayed on well for the first 2-3 days then started to slowly chip but nothing out of the ordinary.
I got a lot of compliments on this colour! Some even by strangers!
I think for my skin tone (NC20ish except olive-y) it looked really nice, especially on my toes!
I will most likely re-purchase when it runs out.

Trophy wife is a dark turquoise teal shimmer. in fact it’s basically ‘Aruba blue’ but with turquoise! i’m usually one to avoid shimmery nail polishes, but this is beautiful, because it’s very multidimensional but still a very simple colour. it doesn’t have any gold, blue or green shimmers in it – it’s a simple, flat dark turquoise shimmer, and that on me, is so much more flattering.
this is also beautiful to me because it reminds me of a mermaid’s tail! or just anything oceany. it really brightens up my mood! i have absolutely no idea why this is called ‘trophy wife’ and not something more marine-like.
needs 2 coats minimum and has really good staying power.
i would definitely repurchase this because i love it!
