Totally In The Dark is a black polish with shimmer. As mentioned in previous reviews it is a little sheer (especially for a dark polish), so you will need 3 coats for full opacity. If you have a good black polish, which is a one-coater, I would recommend you use it as a base (I tried it with a dark teal cream, which worked well too), then you will only need 1 coat of TITD on top. The shimmer is not too striking, so if you normally like black polish, but want something a little different, this polish is worth checking out. I had no problems with drying or wear time.
Overall, I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I can see myself using it again, but I wouldn’t repurchase.

Instead of a basecoat, I like to use a black or white polish (depending on the polish that’ll go on top) that contains subdued, fairly matching glitter – my polish just sticks better than it does to a conventional b/c. I’m currently using Totally In the Dark for that purpose. I usually use two coats to make it opaque even if I’m just using it as “lingerie.” The brush is really wide and hard to control (though not as bad as Guerlain’s), and it takes close to 20 minutes per coat to dry, but it’s a HTF, very specific color and texture of polish that ultimately does the job.

In the bottle this looks black/blue with very fine silver micro shimmer. On the nail this is black with subtle silver micro shimmer. Applies rather thin and sheer but promptly builds opacity. Standard long wear time for being an OPI offshoot. Once dry your nails will look like wet asphalt.

It’s a black polish chock full of silver glitter that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a black based polish. Better yet, the shimmer is present indoors and out in the sun! Application was alright, a bit sheer but full coverage at 3 coats. Or you can get around that by using a really well formulated black polish to start with. A great choice for when you want black polish with a starry kind of kick.
