I impulsively bought this when I saw it on sale, then realized when I got home that is nearly identical to another polish I have (Rescue Beauty Longue in Ghost). In the bottle, The Old Bill has a slightly (and I mean very slightly) reddish tone, making it more copper but not as bright as a brand new penny, while RBL Ghost is more brownish and bronze. Both are beautiful colors, and I’m a sucker for metallic polishes. The Old Bill has a much thinner texture, and once I had it on it is noticeably lighter than Ghost. I was surprised how sheer The Old Bill was and it streaked more than other butter London polishes (which are the best!). I prefer two coats, no more, no less, and while this was more opaque after the second coat, I applied a third coat for good measure. The third coat made it opaque and covered most of the streaks. Because the texture is thin, each coat dries fairly quickly so I wasn’t waiting a terribly long time for the polish to dry and harden (like I’ve done with some of Essie’s pastel polishes). It wears very well, after three days I had minimal wear on the tips and no chips. After about three days I have enough visible growth on my nails that I take polish off. Since I love metallic polishes, especially in the copper and bronze family, I’ll definitely keep wearing this and I’ll buy it again when I run out.

I bought this during Ulta’s 21 day event for $10 and for that price, I’m OK with my purchase however, I wouldn’t want to pay full price for this particular Butter London polish. I gravitated towards it for the color which comes off as an attractive muted bronze/gold hybrid but, I don’t think the shade is stellar enough to compensate for the quality. Unlike my other two Butter London polishes, this shade takes a while to dry which is one of the high end advantages I appreciate from this brand and it applies pretty streaky. If you can find a discounted version, it might be worth considering but, there probably are drug store dupes out there that will fill that color niche.

This nail polish is a 5 star polish! It is a slightly grainy foil nail polish. It goes on smoothly and is not streaky. The color is like a newly mint penny. It looks rose-gold with one coat and looks very metallic and rose-gold/copper with two coats.
Its a very classy color. This beautiful mint penny colored polish is classy enough for the office, but makes enough of a statement with the metallic sheen. I’ve received compliments about this color! The color is flattering on fair skin tones. The formula is also beautiful as many Butter London polishes are. With it also being Parabens free, its an all around great polish!

Love this colour! In the bottle it looks bronze but on my nails it alternates between bronze and rose gold depending on the light. It’s perfect for my NW35 skin tone as it’s subtle and understated and a great work look (for those, like me, who can’t pull off bright colours at work)
It applies super smoothly and dries quite quickly. 2 coats are enough to give you the true colour. A bit expensive (though, to be fair I got it for AU$13.50 rather than $22) and I’m still not sure if I’m a fan of BL’s square cap (which pulls off to reveal a normal screw top cap underneath – it just strikes me as a bit sneaky…)
I’ll have to give it a few more days of wear but this may become one of my go-to colours

I really wanted to love this polish, but I just didn’t. For me, the final product came across streaky and the brush lines were noticeable on my nails, which drove me crazy. I dont use a lot of metallics so I’m thinking that may be a characteristic of metallic polishes in general but to me it left the final look a bit to be desired. The color reminds me of a shiny new penny, but slightly lighter in color. The wear was about 4-5 days with base and top coat. I wouldn’t repurchase because I think there are several cheaper alternatives to this butter london color. I have to say, I prefer it on my toes vs. finger nails. It’s simple and matches with everything while being girly and polished! If you love shiny metallics give this a try!

Beautiful shimmering bronze.
Not a glitter polish, and not so “metallic” that it can’t be dressed up (i.e., doesn’t look like urban “chic”), it has a gorgeous shimmer finish that reminds me of a deep, bronzed penny.
The finish is metallic enough to be edgy, while the color is fashion forward. Unlike “The Full Monty” or “Diamond Geezer” this isn’t so dramatic, and can also be worn as an extremely polished neutral in the fall. I see this working well during the day with neutrals, and into the evening with warm colors, black, cream, winter whites, grays, etc. If you love a shimmering bronze eye, a splash of metallic here and there in your prints, this is a great coordinating color for your warm choices.
True bronze, but not over the top or in your face. Understated, trend on, great look.
Like all Butter London polishes, goes on easy without streaking, dries uber fast, stays on well. If you’re really good at applying color, you might be able to get by with one coat; I achieved perfect opacity, coverage, and color density in two coats (with base coat and top coat).
Will be a favorite this fall.
p.s. The photos I’ve seen on-line for this product do not do it justice. The bottle I purchased is a true deep metallic bronze with a smidgen of copper buried in it–not light or pinkish at all.
