This is a foil polish with a rose gold finish. Looks almost like a bronze in the bottle. Opaque in one coat but I did two for good measure.
You will see brush strokes even after it dries but I think that’s the main idea. It went on smooth and required very little cleanup. It has a nice thick texture for foil. I think it looks kind of expensive, which it is. 🙂
I remember foil nail polish being a 90s thing rather than a 70s thing. Therefore I would have named this 1992 and not 1972. In 1972, foil was on wallpaper…. I think. Anyone recollect foil nail polish in the 70s?
I’m hoping this doesn’t chip too quickly. Foil nail polish is not really my thing I didn’t realize it would be that from the bottle. This type of rose gold polish is supposed to be really big for spring 2020 according to some articles I read, LOL. We’ll see!

Oh my goodness! I think I just found my Valentine’s Day nail polish colour!
Ok! First of all, I learned about smith and cult through Anna Edit on YouTube. She’s been talking about it since 2015 and it wasn’t available in Canada until now!
I ordered mine online through Beauty Bar Cosmetics in Vancouver. It cost $25 CAD/ $18 US (if you live in Canada, this is one of the few stores I found that shipped in the country; since the Smith and Cult company doesn’t ship to Canada from the US…)
The jar itself is a beaut! with a round shape and pale golden warped lid… I’ve never seen a nail polish jar like this before; It’s also quite heavy… like a paper weight. But don’t worry the golden caps actually pop-off the top and underneath is just a regular polish wand applicator, that’s easier to handle and it makes the application of the nail varnish easy too.
Yes, yes, I know what you’re thinking… it costs more than regular nail polishes, but OMG, it doesn’t chip for like 1.5 – 2 weeks and it’s 8-Free formula is formulated without Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide or Triphenyl Phosphate!! It’s even better than Zoya, and in the same league as butter London polish!!! Wow!
I use nail inc kale base coat, and revlon colour stay gel envy top coat. (I reapply the top coat ever 3-4 days). Also, the team behind this brand is the same as the 90s HARD CANDY nail polish.
1972 is a limited edition shade!!!, which is currently available in my local Beauty Bar Cosmetic store. It’s described as opaque rose gold foil, and everyone knows rose gold is still very hot in the last several seasons. IMO is looks Understated with a hint of flash, when the correct light hits it.
I just need 2 coats and it’s perfect; just be careful because since it’s a foil, you’ll be able to see the streaks from the brush.. its minor but somewhat noticeable… in my opinion is not a big deal though. Also I think this shade Will look good in any skintone. It applies so easily and dries quickly as well.
Definitely worth the 25 dollars when I don’t have to change my polish every 3 days because of chipping. I can’t wait to add more polishes in my collection and because 1972 is a limited edition shade, I would pick this up asap. (I’ve read it sold out 2-3x within 8 minutes of it’s online launch, so grab it before it’s gone forever).
