Saucy Jack is a nice medium-dark red that, to my eyes, has some brown undertones. I like the color, but the application is much worse than I’d expect for a fifteen dollar nail polish. The formula is very thin, so it tends to go on a little streaky, and it needs 3 coats to level out into something acceptable. On the plus side, the dry time seems to be slightly faster than other brands, but liking the color and ok dry time definitely do not make up for shitty formula. Will not repurchase.

Color-wise:
Sheer cream blue base blood red. Beautiful for fall and on my warm skintone!
Darker then Revlon Red (a pink red), a little toward the berry color, but still on the red side and I look forward to use it on my nail in cooler weather.
I have it on my toes now with 2 coats to get opaque, but I think I could get away with just 1 coat as this is very smooth for the jelly semi transparent finish.
LOVE!
Wear-time-wise:
I have it with Sally Maximum Glow (transparent pink one) as base coat and Out The Door top coat.
Still going strong in the second week. Zero chip
Application-wise:
Very smooth and easy to apply! In-fact one of the best polish that I tried in term of ease of application.
I’m very surprise after my experience with the Yummy Mummy that went streaky, so glad that I tired as I was thinking to swap/ gift it without trying scaring of another streaky polish >< All in all, I LOVE everything of it. If you love Red nail polish you would enjoy it!

Saucy Jack is a rich shade of blood red, with a lovely shiny finish that sort of straddles the line between creme and jelly. I’m normally not fond of red shades but this shade is blue based so it’s not too ‘in your face’ like I find orangey and yellow based reds, so I’m enjoying wearing it immensely and have already worn it a few times even though I have a ton of untrieds to go through.
I do find it a bit similar to OPI’s All I Want For Christmas (Is OPI), so if you missed out on that limited edition shade you’ll be very happy with Saucy Jack.
The formula is smooth to apply and is quick to dry. As the colour is highly pigmented you really only need one coat and it dries quickly (within three minutes). This shade is a two coater on me as there are one or two thin spots left sometimes, but someone who is better at painting their nails then me could probably get away with one coat.
Using my usual base and top coat, this polish will last me anywhere between two to four days with only minimal wear. But as I’m a self powered wheelchair user I’m tough on my hands and am always catching my nails, so I can’t really speak for how long lasting the formula is overall.
This is my first Butter London nail polish, and despite having heard lukewarm reviews about the brand, I’m very impressed by the formula an will be trying other shades.

I absolutely LOVE this polish. I think red polish on the nails is sexy, classic and professional. But I’m incredibly picky about what red that should be. I don’t like anything with sparkle. I don’t like anything that leans pink or orange. Nothing too dark. Nothing too bright. Nothing too streaky. I’m a bit like Goldilocks when it comes to red polish. It has to be just right.
And I believe Butter London’s Saucy Jack is exactly that. It’s dark without being too dark, it’s bright without being too bright. I use two coats for the perfect color. I love the way it looks on the nails. I get lots of compliments when I wear it. I can make it stretch about 5 days before it starts to chip and wear.
I tend to use it more for manicure rather than a pedicure only because I have to wear boots at work all day and a pedicure is sort of lost on me. But I have used it once or twice for a pedicure color and it is stunningly gorgeous.
We went on a trip to Mexico last February and this is the only polish I took with me. I wore it the entire time and loved it.

This nail polish is AMAZING. I’ve used it multiple times and I can’t say anything bad about it. It’s a super sexy, dark red color that would look great on any skin tone and as a manicure or pedicure. It has a really glossy finish and it lasts a super long time. A little pricey, but the bottle will last a long time and the quality is great. Definitely recommend 🙂

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this polish yet. I’ve had it for about a year, maybe more, and it’s one of my go-to pedi colors. It’s a super sexy dark vampy blood red that looks great on toes or on a short mani. I have this and Come to Bed Red, and while CtBR has a higher repurchase % on Pville, I like Saucy Jack better because of the richness of the red (no brown tones) and the shine of the finish. I use two or three coats and top with Butter London Hardwear. My coworkers thought my pedi was professionally done and they were surprised when I told them I did it myself. You need this red!

Pretty blue based red. Not bright or dark and very flattering on my skin tone. Used base coat and two top coats from Orly. Very little tip wear and no chipping.

What a gorgeous deepish red! Unlike many other deep reds it isn’t super deep… so it reads “RED” as opposed to “reddish brown” or “reddish black.” And yet there is nothing “too bright” or “tacky” looking about this red. It’s a sophisticated red. As far as tone, it’s a neutral red. Oh alright, it may lean EVER so slightly cool if you want to get technical… but it leans nowhere near as cool (or as bright) as “Come to Bed Red,” and looks great with my warmish pale skin tone. The finish is kind of a cross between a cream and a jelly, so let’s call it a crelly. Goes on like “butter” (ahhh, that never gets old), lasts long, and stays shiny. The only thing I don’t like about it is the NAME! “Saucy Jack” (look it up on Wiki if you don’t believe) was the nickname of Jack The Ripper… yep, the serial killer who murdered prostitutes in cold blood. Butter London evidently chose the name because this is a “blood” red shade. Um, yeah… I’m not the sort of person who offends easily AT ALL… but I am really offended that Butter London would glorify the name of a woman-killer, especially on a product marketed to women! That is not just in “poor taste” it is downright misogynistic. Had I known what “Saucy Jack” meant before I purchased the polish, I seriously would not have bought it. Great product… but shame on Butter London for the revolting name.

Saucy Jack is a lovely, deep red polish with a jelly finish. To me it looks like it is a blue-based red that resembles the colour of fresh blood. I’ve worn it on both my fingernails and toenails with Butter London’s Nail Foundation base and Butter London’s Hardwear top coat. On my fingernails this polish lasted 2-3 days without starting to chip or show tipwear.,which I find to be pretty average for most polishes I have worn. I have it on my toenails right now and it has been at least a week and the polish still looks like it was freshly applied. Saucy Jack applies perfectly, with a smooth, not too thick, consistency that is easy to work with. I’m sure it will take a long time to finish this bottle, but given the choice I would buy this polish again.
