Pretty stunning creamy blue. Kind of a classy color in a weird way. Applies perfect with one coat but best with two. Iam not a huge fan of blues but this is a pretty calming happy blue with a hint of a grey/purple undertone. Pretty much just a straight cream blue though. Essie polishes can be runny and hard too apply but this was a dream. Going to wear it for a few days to take me into fall/winter. This color is a winner if you like blues.

This is a mid-tone blue, slightly darker than periwinkle, too subdued to be a cornflower blue. It’s a very pretty, flatter color that dries slightly darker than it looks in the bottle. The first coat went on surprisingly sheer, but the second coat made it easily opaque. Most Essie cream polishes have great staying power, but this one was just OK. After the first day I had a couple chips at the tips and by the end of the second day the wear at the tips was noticeable. Still, I love the color and it’s one I’ll reach for. I would buy it again.

One coat for a gorgeous opaque creamy periwinkle / cornflower blue shade. This polish applies quickly and evenly and looks perfect against white, black or any other pop of color so a great year round shade although I like it best for summer or when going on vacation somewhere sunny and tropical. There is a distinct purple/gray undertone to this but just enough to make the color interesting and not strange. This looks nice on long or short nails, simply a beautiful finish with this polish.

So beautiful! It’s a creme shade and it has great coverage/wear time. It’s a clean beachy blue shade with a purple/grey undertone.

This is a beautiful cream polish. The formula is perfect and the brush is slightly thicker than the normal Essie brushes. I did find that it dries rather fast and this is something I need because I am so impatient. This polish is opaque in coat and putting another coat on won’t even make a difference. I would definitely repurchase this.

Gorgeous dusty periwinkle cream. That’s how I would describe Essie Pret-a-surfer. And, this polish is almost a one coater! It also dried very quickly. I have quite a few colors in this category but no exact dupes. Sinful Colors Lavender is slightly lighter but actually quite close color-wise. If you have other blue-grey polishes in your collection you may not need it, but it is a really great formula and color. No regrets getting this one. Essie seems to have stepped up their game lately!

this polish is from the Essie summer 2015 collection. it is what i’d call a periwinkle color, only less saturated, and leaning heavy on the blue side. the color is deep enough and greyed out enough that i would feel comfortable wearing this one any time or year, really. it certainly doesn’t scream ‘summer’. i have no dupes, although China Glaze ‘Boho Blues’ is very close but a couple shades lighter.
there are two complaints i have with this polish, and one is more of an observation: the smell is quite skunky.. a lot like sally hansen pacific blue.. that doesn’t bother me, but i could see how it might bother some people. the main issue for me was the tiny bubbles. the formula was just a tad thick and as it dried i noticed very tiny bubbles forming on every nail. a good top coat of Seche Vite disguised that completely, but for some folks this could be an issue… esp if you use thicker coats when painting.
otherwise, the formula was very nice. opaque in 2 coats.. and i had no issues with staining, although i’ve heard from several people that they had staining with this polish. i’d advise using a base coat.
the color is kind of hard not to fall in love with when you see it in person.. like i said, i’ll probly wear this all year long. if you pick it up, just be aware of the things i mentioned above 😉
