Grey is one of my all time favorite colors to wear as a nail polish. I am very fair with a cool undertone and most greys seem to work on me. So of coarse I was interested in Pelican Gray when the Anchor’s Away collection came out. This color reminds me a lot of Zoya Harley, my HG shimmery light grey polish. PG is not quite as cool toned. On my skintone this color actually translates to more of a ‘dirty’ light grey – it does have a slightly warm undertone compared to some of my other greys. The silver shimmer, as other reviewers have pointed out, is very subtle. It just gives the polish a little something extra. The only real issue I have with this polish is that it always seems to bubble on a few nails when I apply it. Because it is a lighter color the bubbles doesn’t show up much, esp. with a top coat. But still, it’s rather annoying. I can get away with wearing this at two coats, but three is better for complete opacity. I probably wouldn’t repurchase this because I have other light greys I prefer but that said I will continue to use up the bottle I have.

I absolutely love this polish. When I realized it had shimmer, I thought, “oh no”, but on the nails, it translates to a beautiful glow. It doesn’t look frosty or even “shimmery”, just a lovely diffused glow that makes it stand out more than a typical pale grey. You don’t see shimmer particles unless you hold it right up to your eyeball, haha. The color is very similar to Revlon Timeless, another favorite of mine, which has no shimmer.
It does need three coats for full opacity, but the drying time is above average. It also lasts 4 days before chipping with no base/top coat. Very flattering on my very fair, golden-undertone skin. Excellent polish. If you love pale greys, this is a must have.

Absolutely beautiful grey shade. But I had to apply three coats to (barely) reach opacity, and that is one coat too much in my world. ETA: This looks stunning with two coats of Revlon Whimsical + one coat Seche Vite over it. Like blue clay with pink and blue glitter sprinkle. Love, and one more lippie!
65 non hesitant iris varnish primer the sky looked great all week and is getting the blame for the way this primer runs. I tried both of these, they both fail me, a blue sky is opaque, but this one is fine. Hmmm, grey colors are better. I also tried ultraviolent. I love ultraviolent. No frills using this. One application later all looks good again, and it didn’t taste so good! OMG!!!

China Glaze makes gorgeous polishes, and as much as I wanted to love Pelican, I just couldn’t get on board (pun unintended).
I have olive, warm toned skin, and the grey in this colour really becomes more like a slate blue against my complexion. Pelican wasn’t quite the gorgeous grey I was looking for, but I found it in CG Concrete. I think Pelican would would be lovely on those with cooler tones.
Although, I’d give it points for originality of formula — I’ve not seen another colour like this one.

Bought at hair salon on sale on a whim as it was on sale. Very low price. Have never tried China Glaze before and I was very impressed. Colour was lovely, light grey with the smallest hint of shimmer. Looked great on my nails. Used 2 coats + silver glitter topcoat and it looked great though I think it looks better w/out glitter. Dried nicely and did not chip. Very pleased and this has encouraged me to buy more China Glaze…Don’t know if I would use the whole bottle so may not repurchase this colour, but it is lovely.

I am new to the China Glaze brand – I was looking for a taupe-y mushroom gray at Sally’s the other day and instead was drawn to this. This is not taup-y at all, it’s got blueish undertones. I feel like the color should have been called “wet cement” or “raincloud” because I feel like that more accuratly describes the color. Or putty, or clay, etc…
That being said, I like it! The color looks sort of odd next to my warm skin, but it’s unique and that is what I was looking for. Hubby hates it, he thinks it’s wierd. LOL.
The best part though – two coats worked perfectly for me. I roughed up my nails and smoothed the ridges a bit, no base coat, no topcoat, just two coats of this and it is lasting like a CHAMP. I type all day and I have had it on for just over a week with no chips or scratches at all. Even the tips still look good. I’m going to have to re-do it simply because my nails are growing. I will def. try to buy Cina Glaze from now on! I’m interested to see how their darker blacks and plums fare.

Lately I feel pretty sure China Glaze has become my favorite brand of nail polish, for its color selection, smooth and lasting formula, and its price. This polish applied smoother than any new polish that I had tried in months, dried quickly, and lasted about 5 days on my natural nails without chipping (which is an accomplishment on a nurse, let me tell you).
The color is a cool, steel gray with the barest hint of shimmer; it isn’t very noticeable, but keeps the color from looking flat. It definitely goes in my rotation for this winter.

I like this color but some things are not working for me. It’s a pure, 100% cool toned gray, nothing warm about it, so it’s not as flattering as some other (warmer) grays on me, but that’s due to skintone. And while I like the subtle shimmer it has, applications is somewhat problematic, formula is thick and with a narrow brush and thick formula it’s not easy to apply it neatly as I would like. Good staying power as all China Glazes on me

Normally I tend to shy away from “shimmer” nail polishes. Something about them makes me think about my stepmother in the early 90’s. Her signature polish was always some type of frosted horrid light pink and my loathing of her transferred to shimmer polishes. But I really like this particular color, the shimmer is ssshh secret. My elephant eared color nail polish is magically turned into a mysterious murky grey. I can’t stop staring at my nails, are they light blue, sheer silver, nope, just a secret shimmer grey. Who knows, maybe I’ll turn into a shimmer convert. And yes, this another one of those polishes where my boyfriend is asking “Is that dried putty on your fingernails?”.

Too thick to apply evenly. the colour was gorgeous but its too thick. If it was thin enough, its too streaky, if its thick enough, it comes on in clumps. Takes a while to dry.
