I only have one shade from this brand so far, so obviously this review is more about that shade in particular than their Paint Pots on the whole. I can see myself repurchasing or trying more shades in the future, and if needed I’ll adjust the review accordingly.
For reference: I always use a base coat (Lumene’s Reparing Base Coat, at this time) and the Seche Vite top coat. The shade I have is Paparazzi, a dark wine red, almost mahogany shade. It’s glossy but without any sort of shimmer. I love this shade for autumn and I know I’ll be using it a bunch this season. I’ve only used it once so far, and it might be a matter about getting used to a new formula/polish, but I found the formula to be a bit gloopy. It almost felt a little bit like when a polish has gotten thicker with age. Could be my bottle or the shade specifically, of course. The first coat went on quite streaky, though the second coat looked perfectly opaque and even. It lasted me about 5 days, which I feel is an okay wear time. I had no chipping during that time, but at the end of day 5 I couldn’t stop myself from picking at my nails, and it then came off in big flakes.

I have 3 of these: Golddigga (a dark gold shimmer), Ferris wheel (sky/duck egg blue) and Sherbet fizz (pinkish red jelly with shimmer). The formulas are all really different.
Golddigga is THE WORST smelling nail polish I’ve ever used (like soil contaminated with acetone- I know that doesn’t sound THAT bad but I almost threw up when I was applying it!). But the formula is great- opaque, streak free beautiful colour.
Ferris wheel is a lovely colour but super streaky, even for a pastel. Can see brush marks after it’s dried. Not the finish you’d be happy with if you’d paid the RRP. I’ve got £1 MUA polishes with a better finish. Even that trick of using matte top coat between layers doesn’t help.
Sherbet fizz is really unusual. Still slightly sheer after 3 coats though, but not streaky.
They seem to last quite well without chipping. The bow on the bottle is really cute. I would check out online reviews with pictures of the shade you want before buying one though as the formula can be variable to say the least!

Ciate nail polish really is a great product. I have generally used OPI nail polish in the past but will now be using ciate instead. Their nail polish is highly pigmented, thick and looks lovely.

Ciate offers a comprehensive range of colours and textures to make your nails feel and look great! I was excited to get to work after paying £25 for the 3D Glitter Neon Nails set. This set didn’t work out for me. The polish is thick (almost like glue) and difficult to apply. Even after 3 coats and a top coat it still looked streaky. The glitter was lovely but if you are buying this set beware applying a top coat over the glitter to seal it spoils the look. Sadly not a purchase I would make again.

I love the range of colours and effects this brand has, but I find the polishes to be a bit hit-and-miss. I have Strictly Legal (a shimmery purple with flecks of pink and gold) and I love it, but Apple and Custard (a pale green, somewhere between mint and sage) is awful formula-wise. It’s gloopy and applies poorly with the brush given – it still looked streaky and uneven after two or three coats, and needed a thick topcoat to even look half-decent. Both did dry relatively quickly for regular polishes, however, and the colours are gorgeous. It’s the brushes which really let this brand down, as they’re wide and square and make perfect application pretty much impossible. I’d be willing to accept these flaws if they weren’t so expensive (well, normally – I got mine on sale), but it just isn’t worth the money when brands like Barry M have a similar range and quality for half the price.

Ciate is a British nail polish brand that produces creme, matte, shimmer, glitter, duocrome, holographic and pearlescent polishes. The brand has made a name for itself for it’s range of manicure ‘toppers’ that are applied over still damp polish; including loose caviar pearls [tiny beads], sequins, glitter and feathers. Ciate release many gift sets throughout the year so customers can try the various products in mini form, to see what they like before buying the full sizes
Ciate also offer various base and top coats, polish remover and nail files.
The polish formulas for every Ciate polish I’ve worn so far have all been really smooth and bubble/streak free to apply, and many shade colours are so rich that they are very nearly one-coaters on me; people who are neater then me at applying polish [most people] will probably only need the one coat for the medium/dark shades. The polish dries quickly, and I find that it wears as well as the big named brands on MUA. I also had no issue with the bottle shape [the shape is easy to grip], or with the brush [I class it as standard – neither noticeably big or small].
I’ve also tried a few of the manicure topper options and found them easy to use – and steady hands & patience are two things that I lack. The caviar pearls, sequins and glitter can get a bit messy, so don’t attempt them if you’re in a rush.
Here in the UK Ciate is slightly cheaper than the likes of OPI and Nails INC, so I feel as though I got more then enough quality for my money.
Ciate loses a lippie as quite a few of the polish shades aren’t anything new, and the various manicure toppers – whilst different and fun – aren’t very long lasting.

Love the Ciate brand polishes, vibrant color, even wear and no chip for a week. The packaging is so cute. The brand does some weird products like the caviar effect ones and the chalkboard effect ones that are not the top performers despite the novelty. The regular paint pot is a winner, though.

I have bought this in a shade called Espadrilles. As the name suggests this is a summer shade. I have a vast range of polishes ranging from cheap to uber expensive. This one cost £9. I got it in Fortnum & Masons but it seems to be the same price everywhere. This is a unique shade. Because I have lots of polishes I have become a bit jaded because there isn’t much shade wise that I don’t already have. This is a red/gold frosted shade which looks great for summer toes. I can imagine wearing this in the autumn on my fingernails. It looks absolutely beautifully molten in the wonderful boudoir style bottle. A dream to apply. Brush has a great handle and the consistency of the polish is first class. One coat is enough but I am a purist and always apply two. I will buy more from this range.
