Storm King is a lovely pale blue-grey color. While I think the shade is absolutely stunning, I was disappointed with its overall performance.
The formula for Storm King was difficult to apply. The first and second coats were extremely streaky, even over a clear base coat. It was a thinner formula and I had issues with it running all over. The initial application on my thumb nail looked so bad I just had to remove it and start over. I did three thin coats and cleaned up the run-off with a q-tip soak in nail polish remover, and it looked OK in the end.
I was able to get opaque coverage with three coats, and it matches the color pictured on the website.
The dry time on this was excellent. It felt dry at two minutes, but I let it sit longer to be sure it was dry before the next coat.
The wear time wasn’t great. By day two I noticed chipping by my nail bed. I’m not rough with my hands, and can usually go five to seven days with no signs of wear.
Considering how time consuming and difficult it was to apply, I’m not happy with its lack of wear time.
This formula just wasn’t for me. The colors are fantastic and unique, which is why I gave them two stars instead of one. The application and performance, however, were a disappointment.
I bought a haul of about six polishes from Cirque Colors, and hopefully I like the others better than Storm King.
