Picked this up on a whim. I have a weakness for indigo (blue-purple) polishes, and this one has a fair bit of hype. I actually have a couple other blue-with-pink-shimmer polishes, but this is nowhere near a dupe of those.
In the bottle, this looks like a violet-blue, and the pink/violet shimmer is very, very visible. On the nail, I find the shimmer much more subdued. To me, it’s almost like a hidden shimmer, and it only shows itself in certain kinds of light. The polish base, too, depends on the light. Sometimes it’s more blue, sometimes more purple. The shimmer helps with that, because when it’s visible, it definitely goes more purple than blue.
Application is okay, typical OPI shimmer, really. I found this to be a little slow to dry. Removal is okay, but lots of pink shimmer everywhere (again, typical of many OPI shimmers).
I don’t know if I’d say that this lives up to the hype, honestly. It is a lovely polish, though, and I’m not sorry I grabbed a bottle of it.

Worth the hype! Gorgeous dark blue-violet with rosegold shimmer! And unlike most dark polish, it does NOT make pale skin look undead in daylight! (Note: I’m very pale, and I wear sandals 9 months/yr. Wrong shade of polish actually did draw me some casual medical concern once.) This stuff’s gorgeous. Two light coats give a dark blue-violet with a touch of rose gold shimmer. Three coats makes the shimmer really bright. Add a glossy topcoat and it looks magical. It flows well, so it’s easier to apply than most dark shades. And it’s a jelly base, so if you feel like trying a metallic base layer underneath, go for it. I sincerely hope this becomes part of the permanent collection b/c I can see this becoming a HG shade for a lot of people.

Turn On The Northern Lights is from OPI Iceland 2017 Fall/Winter Collection. This is an indigo with black untertone with lots of micro red/pink microglitter in it. It also has a silver sheen finish. This color actually surprises me. When I look at the bottle, I am not quite sure whether I would like it or not. I am not a big fan of blue shimmer nail polish. However, I still give it a go. Once I put it on, the color interests me. It is not just blue with silver sheen, but the pink/red microglitter brings the whole color alive. It does look indigo but lean more towards blue than purple.
The application is not too bad. The first coat leans more to a sheer side. However, after two good coats, I can get it completely opaque. I get so many compliments from people. The day I wore a nice navy blue dress and it does compliment everything really well. I did not regret having this color. It is a beautiful color and if you like indigo, give it a go!

This is a really deep ultramarine blue polish that reads as blue even in dim lighting. The formula was a jelly and it was opaque in 2 coats. In the light there is this noticeable red shimmer that is beautiful.
It did not seem to stain my nails after 3 full days of wear which is very good for me as I work in an art studio with my hands.
This color is part of the OPI Iceland collection. I think there are a number of really great polishes in that collection and this one is a standout.

Turn On The Northern Lights was arguably the polish from the 2017 Iceland collection which caused the most excitement/hype. This polish is a blue/purple jelly with a gorgeous pink-gold shimmer which is extremely prominent, even in dimmer lighting. The formula is very good, two easy coats to full opacity with no streaking or patches. It dries quickly and to a shiny finish. It lasted well on the nail, around 5 days when paired with base and top coat. It did not stain my nails or the skin around them and the top coat really emphasised the shimmer. This is definitely a unique polish that anyone should add to their collection. I think it could be worn year round due to the shimmer and I also think it would be flattering on all skin tones. This polish is definitely the star of OPI Iceland 2017. I am very impressed and can highly recommend it.
