In 2008 China Glaze released their much-lusted-after OMG holographic polish collection, and now for it’s ten year anniversary they’ve re-released six out of the original twelve shades as the OMG Flashback collection. I’ve got a few of their original OMG polishes and think that the strength of the holographic shimmer between the two collections is about the same – such a relief, because the holographic shades from the brand post-OMG have been pretty “meh” overall. IDK is a dusty purple/lilac shade, that is filled with a linear holographic shimmer. This is my favourite shade in the OMG Flashback collection and is backed up with a winning formula.
The formula is pretty much fantastic in one coat, if you apply a thicker coat, though I do always recommend (at least) two thinner coats of any polish for a better wear time – but it’s nice to know that if you don’t have a lot of time to spend on your mani, that this is a good time-saving option. The formula is neither too thick or too thin, has great pigmentation, it is smooth, even and non-streaky to apply, it dries quickly, and I’ve not experienced any staining, bleeding, or shrinkage [I always wear a basecoat]. In general nail polishes will last me anywhere between two to four days with only minimal wear. But as I’m a self powered wheelchair user I’m tough on my hands and am always catching my nails, so I can’t really speak for how long lasting the formula is overall.

This polish is back! China Glaze has re-released this shade in its recent OMG flashback collection. I have seen some photos comparing the new release to the older one and it seems like China Glaze was able to dupe the shades pretty spot on. So I am tagging this review onto to the older OMG collection.
Confession, this is my first holo (holographic) polish and holy cow it’s fan-flipping-tastic. The sun has gone and I am sitting in a dark apartment but even then this it totally holo.I can’t even deal with this. Maybe if you are a jaded holosexual this color won’t get your panties wet. But for a holo virgin like me? Game changer.
The color is a dusty blue purple. It was easily opaque in 2 coats. The formula was a little runny so don’t overload your brush and don’t overwork it on the nail. Despite that the formula was very forgiving and the dry time was better than usual. Also it dried really smooth and shiny without a top coat.
I almost didn’t pick this up in the store because it looked drab in the bottle. But on the nails it is alive! I can’t even type because my nails are distracting me with rainbows.

IDK is from the ChG OMG collection and the OMG suits this color well. This is a linear holograpic polish in light dusty purple. It looks lovely in normal lighting, but once you get this baby in the sun or under bright lights the magic really happens as the holograpic effect is really stellar reflecting silver, purple, blue, pink, and a bit of orange.
Though I have had this bottle for a number of years the consistency was still perfect, not too thick or too thin. The texture wa also very nice and it applied quite smoothly. Two coats offered full coverage and it was very easy to apply with no running or streaking.
This comes packaged in the standard round ChG bottle but it does have a silver colored cap to denote that it is a holographic polish. It also comes with the standard ChG brush. Both the brush and the bottle are very functional.
I got excellent wear from this polish, 5 plus days without chipping. I used CND Stickey base coat and Sally Hansn Insta Dri top coat and was very pleased with the results with IDK.
As I have had this bottle for a number of years, (why did it take me so long to use this one?) I don’t remember the original price nor do I know if it is still available. But if it were available at an affordable price I would definitely repurchase should I ever run out.

I was ecstatic when I found IDK in a mall salon for $9. It’s a gorgeous light purple holographic polish. The holo effect is pretty strong, and is referred to as linear – it looks like a rainbow rather than scattered holographic particles. I can see the holo effect very well in bright artificial light, but it’s stunning in the sun.
The formula is a bit tricky. It’s thin but a bit hard to spread on the nail. Totally worth the effort! I used two coats without a base or topcoat, but I will try it with OPI DS top coat. It dries extremely quickly.
I am glad I didn’t have to shell out a bunch of money for this on eBay, but I was considering it. This is a gorgeous color!

Another great holo from China Glaze that’s tragically discontinued. It’s not quite as holographic as OPI Designer series, but this runs a close second to my beloved OPI DS Original.
It’s a medium light purple/lavendar holo that just reflects beautifully in the light. It applies very smoothly and wears well. On my MMM skintone this is a great shade. Definitely one of my favorite CG holo’s.

I am so late on the whole nail polish trend, but I’ve been getting into holographic nail polishes and IDK and 2nite are my first holo ones. I must say I love IDK! It just fits so well with my skintone, whether I am an NC40 in the summer or NC35 in the winter, it just looks so good. I’ve received so many compliments whenever I wear this nail polish. Its just this really cute lavender/perry winkle color with a STRONG holo – omg, can I just emphasize how blindingly beautiful the holo is on this and 2nite?!? I just can’t stop staring at my nails whenever I wear these two. I took one lippie off because it chips pretty easily, but it does dry quickly. It’s been discontinued, but it’s available on evil bay and amazon for semi-decent prices. At the time, I got both at a fair price – no more than 10 bucks. Get it now before the prices increase!

This is my first linear holo np, and am in LOVE! Gorgeous color and amazing holo when light hits it. My only regret is not finding the Nail Board sooner, I wasn’t around when these were released and sadly only have a few from the OMG collection. They are really amazing! Love it and would definitely repurchase =)

China Glaze’s IDK is a linear holographic blue-based medium lavender polish. This is from the OMG collection and is linear holo rather than microglittery holo. In direct light and sunlight then effect is like a flame on your fingertips! The only downside to this polish (and the reason I took off 1 lippie) is the application – it’s horrible. You MUST work carefully and try not to go over an already-polished segment otherwise the brush is going to pull off the polish and leave bald patches. The second coat will cover them up but it still happens and leaves a less-than-perfect mani. However, this was opaque in two coats, dried very quickly (much quicker than other China Glaze polishes), and was very shiny with Posche over top. I would definitely buy this one again.

I own two of these polishes (omg, and the pink one) they’re so much fun to wear! I haven’t been able to find them in stores anymore, but have had luck online. They look awesome under sunlight. My only negative thought on this polish is that it scrapes off easily so I have to constantly reapply it on my nails. In general, I love the look of this line.

IDK is a beautiful, cool-toned lilac/light purple color with the linear smooth holo of the OMG collection.
I had some trouble with LOL (the dark purple) but IDK was nearly perfect.
I applied a base coat, 2-3 thin coats of IDK, and a quick-dry topcoat. At end-of-Day 2, there was some light tipwear, but not very noticeable.
At end-of-Day 3, I had a small chip.
This wears very well since I’m very hard on my nails. Most polishes chip before Day 2.
I have been using Seche Base, x coats of color, and CND Speedey (very thin, so that might be a reason my polishes chip earlier).
The first coat often goes on a little streaky. Don’t panic and try to fix it. Don’t go over the same area after the previous brushstroke has begun to set. Just do the other nails, wait a minute, and put another coat. If you do try to go over a bald-ish spot, it will drag the setting polish and you might have to start over. Most holos are like this, so I don’t count it as a negative.
Also, the holo is most noticeable in sunlight/natural light and close-by light sources. It is much less noticeable in the overhead fluorescent office-building light.
