Star Dust is silver glitter suspended in clear jelly. I guess, it can be used by itself, but it is intended to be used as a topper. I received this as a part of Leighton Denny gift set. I thought it would be like China Glaze Fairy Dust, but unlike FD, Star Dust Dries to a semi-matte, textured finish.
For my picture I applied one coat of SD over Kiko 344. The glitter is densely packed, so you will only need one coat for a super-sparkly finish.The clear jelly is a little thick, but it is easy enough to spend it across the nail evenly. It dries really fast (applied over dry polish). However, as is dried the the glossy shiny disappears and you can feel the glitter on the nails. I had to apply a coat of thick top coat to make it smooth and shiny again.
This topper is not for me. If you are looking for something similar, but shiny, try CG Fairy Dust, mentioned above or better still try ILNP My Private Rainbow (X), which is a holo topper so it is easy to remove. Or, if you prefer something a little more subtle, try INM Northern Lights (Silver or Gold).
