This has become a favorite summer pedi color for me. Formula is easy to work with. You can reach opacity in one coat; two coats will give you a bit deeper color. To me this is a fun, punchy, upbeat red-based coral. It has pop but it’s tasteful-not screaming loud or neon. I have yet to try it on my hands but will update when I do.

For me this is like a watermelon candy color, not really a red. it’s a bright summery shade with a good formula and easy application. I do have some other colors like this and I don’t find it to be especially unique or something I reach for all the time, but still a nice polish.

Only with a color like this can so many attributes reside harmoniously. LC is a femme fatale, chic, sexy, edgy, sophisticated, youthful nail cloak. It makes my hands look softer, yet more powerful (does this even make any sense?); it’s really beautiful on my complexion, not garish or ghetto-looking at all.

I got LC as part of Zoya’s Something for Nothing Promotion (mail in any non-Zoya polishes in exchange for Zoya polishes of your choice). When I first saw it in the bottle, I didn’t think I would like it, but now that it’s on my nails, I can’t stop admiring them. It’s a very cheerful red creme, with leanings towards orange that keep it fresh. It’s almost the same color as those ubiquitous red plastic cups. I used Seche Vite Strengthening Base Coat and Dry Fast Top Coat and had no problems with application, smooth and opaque in 2 coats (which I find rare in Zoya polishes). I never tried any Zoya polishes before this promotion, but polishes like LC have made me a fan.

I love bright punchy colors, so yeah I love this color! it is a punchy red creme shade – definitely not a true red.

Six cream bright polishes in this set run the spectrum from “red purple cream” (Audrina), “hot fuchsia cream” (Whitney), “electric cerise cream” (Lo), “bold poppy cream” (Elodie), “hi-beam orange cream” (Heidi), “summer red cream” (LC). Basically it’s the midtone cream range from a cool magenta to a cool red and the pinks and oranges in between. The collection was being promoted and I was lucky to get this jewel like display package with all six luscious shades, because they are luscious together.
THE COLOR… LC is a red, and in the bottle it appears to be a lighter, pinker version of a red. It’s got a really special light look in the bottle, a fresh version of red that isn’t heavy. I see a lack of heaviness in the LC in the bottle. I see a balance of yellow and pink in the bottle, not too far either way and neither dominates (and there definitely is a pink to LC). This gives LC a distinction from the heavy red creams that we all want from time to time. However, the light touches in LC you see on the bottle become lost on me (Px red/blue Level II or MAC NW 20). On me, just plain red. Once in the light driving around, I saw the lighter, less heavy shade and I couldn’t capture it. Well, anyway, it’s a pretty red, but nothing unlike about 3 reds most have in their collection.
THE APPLICATION… First, I prepped my nails with Zoya products: Remove+ to do the job of cleaning the nail plate, and Anchor to act as a base coat.
I tend to do a light first coat smaller than my nail and then a thicker second coat to envelop entirely the first. I had problems with the first coat over the Anchor. First, it was a little sticky and the touch of brush to nail to swipe and curve around the cuticles left a raggedy shaping. I felt the Anchor was sticky but there was nothing wrong with the color. However, upon the second coat, the entire brush and the brush stem was so gloopy thick and hard to keep clean of excess product, even after my trying hard to clean the stem using a spiral twist inside the neck. I couldn’t make out the shape of the brush at all, the whole stem and brush was just this double thick thing. I couldn’t get enough color on the brush to get down off onto my nail. So I ended up using more product than necessary and I had to clean up almost every nail.
I was very unhappy at how slowly this process went, first to spiral clean and de gloop the brush, then to re-gloop just one half of the bristles and then to apply and redo and redo and move and redo to pull the color around. THEN to clean up the cuticles. Let’s just say that it took me nearly an extra 1/2 hr to do.
I was so tired that I’m sure I didn’t wait sufficiently to dry LC before using Armor. (And there are no instructions on Armor sadly so I’m not sure if I was using it right.) So I put on a bit of a thick amount, about Seche Vite levels of top coat. In other words, I applied to the nail a rather large ball of Armor with the brush to be applied to the topcoat. I ended this all with Hurry Up drops by Zoya.
The great news, in the morning, no sheet marks of any kind and they were dried solid. The bad news, was that on every nail, yes EVERY ONE, there were many bubbles. Many many small bubbles and one big bubble. I cannot describe how hurt I am by this. I feel I’ve been smacked around (yes it’s that serious, LOL). I don’t know what I did wrong but I think it was all that extra time it took to get the damn polish onto my nail and to deal with that sticky brush. I wonder if it was the polish being too thick or agitated or a reaction between the Remove+ or the Anchor. It was frustrating to see those damn bubbles and I have to redo.
THE WEAR… on the middle of day 2, the wear is great. A slight bit of tip wear but no maintenance was done at all on the manicure. I’m thinking that the Armor works pretty well.
For the horrible application, the disappointment of the color and for the surprise bubbles, I have to give LC a poor rating. If it was just operator error I will come back and revisit this review. Everyone loves Zoyas and I want to as well but this is a reality check review… likely the worst brand new polish I’ve ever used. But it’s still pretty in the bottle…
