This is a beautiful rich reddish plum crelly. It’s perfect in 2 coats. I can’t attest to the wear time because I change my polish 3-4 times per week, but I find myself choosing this one often, especially in the Fall/Winter. I have dark skin with cool undertones and it’s very flattering.

I was hesitant to buy this polish since I am used to wearing light pinks and nudes but there was something about this color that drew me to it. Upon first layer, it looks more red than purple which worried me and it was a bit on the streaky side. However, when I applied the second coat, the polish turned into a beautiful purple red that ended up complimenting my skin tone quite well. My second coat of polish did need to be a bit on the thick side to cover up the streaks from the first coat and it went on beautifully. I do believe some of the issues I ran into were from user error since I’ve never worked with dark colors and I am excited to keep using it (and perfect my nail skills along the way). Don’t let dark colors intimidate you if you are worried about it being to harsh with your skin tone or standing out to much, take the jump like I did and you might not be disappointed.

I think this may be the worst OPI polish I’ve ever used. The color is a deep wine, which would have been attractive.
The consistency of the polish was thin and runny. Sorta jelly, but really not. The 1st coat covered terribly, it was streaky and didn’t self level. The second coat was somewhat better. I used Seche Vite as a top coat, my manis usually last a week.
The same afternoon (and I wasn’t doing anything unusual with my hands), it chipped badly on 2 nails.
Instead of redoing a full manicure, I took the polish off the 2 chipped nails and re-did them.
The next morning those nails were chipped again along with 3 others!
I threw this in the trash, I didn’t want to make a mistake and ever use it again.
I wish I could give this a zero rating!
OPI has so many beautiful wine colors, OPI Scores a Goal, in particular….there is no point in wasting money and time on this!

This opi polish is a crelly plum/wine like color; the formula is not very easy to work with, but non too difficult either: it is a bit streaky and patchy, and usually I paint first a thin coat, then a second thicker one. You will need at leadt two coats with this, if you have medium/long nails. It is worth the effort though, because everytime I wear it I always get compliments: it looks like red wine and it has an amazing squishy look. It looks very nice on fair skin. it’s not super long lasting, but on me it lasted two-three days which is good.

I don’t normally wear purple so I approached this one on tiptoe. In the end I convinced myself that it wasn’t a purple and bought it. Well, it isn’t a purple. The color is exactly the color of red cabbage – far more red than a true purple but certainly too blue to be called red. It has mirror like shine – much more than usual from OPI. The nails end up looking not only glossy but as made of glass.
I had some of the same application problems I experienced with First Date at The Golden Gate. Although it’s a thin, transparent jelly, it’s rather streaky and difficult to work with. I need my manicure to last a week so I normally prefer several very thin coats, but the first coat of this one was so streaky and patchy that I had to apply four coats in order to cover the mess. By then the color was slightly darker than the color of the bottle. Next time I applied a more generous first coat, and that helped some, but because it’s so thin, the amount of polish on the brush made it ran, and I had to clean my cuticles afterward (always a sign of bad application).
What makes this one beautiful is also what makes it difficult to work with – it’s transparency. This is what gives it the very high shine, but it is also what makes every small streak visible even under several coats of polish. I’ll continue to experiment with application methods in the hope that I one day succeed in making this as beautiful as I think it could be, but I won’t rebuy.
