My first Butter London polishes were Hen Party & Yummy Mummy. I decided I’d invest in some good quality nail polishes rather than keep going to a salon (+ I had a health issue at 1). I’m into doing my own nubs a merely amateurish attempt but I believe that my health is more important than vanity; this is a lovely nudetral w an unexpected lilac iridescence. I do not use base coat nor top coat, my own experience is that for me personally too many layers causes my colors to chip faster. That’s prob not how it’s sup to be done if u want to be correct about the entire process but works for me. I’ve got a handful of “good” polishes now so I’m set. BL, Dior, Marc Jacobs, & Formula X & an entire rack of cheap polishes for my whimsical side. I suggest investing in some good every day colors u like. The wild polishes keep them confined to DS & ur collection will be well-rounded! I don’t do dishes or have kids so I’ve had really good results w my HE polishes, they are worth the investment!!

this product is amazing! at first i though that this would be a nice and clean sheer nude, and yeah it does! one layer (only hen party applied) it will be a nice and clean skin color, two or three layer makes your nails gross! the formula is lightweight and quick dry.

I ordered this on line and came SOOOO close to returning it. The color in the bottle just didn’t do it for me. Luckily, I gave it a shot. It’s hard to describe how lovely this shade is. It’s a very light, neutral, iridescent polish. It lasted well over a week over gel-prepped nails (one coat each of gelish foundation and top coat) and one coat of Seche Vite. Beautiful!

Butter London’s Hen Party is a Lovely, Classy Iredescent ONE COAT (YEA!) Nail Polish that gives PERFECT Non-streaking coverage that I Cannot get with any lovely OPI colour that I have. For that 5 Lippies.
At first I thought I “might” like Hen Party and tried it on one nail. I was REALLY impressed. I entirely undid half a manicure in a Calvin Klein Navy Blue Colour (No that was NOT easy) just to do an entire manicure in this lovely colour.
It’s a shade that sparkles and looks opalescent like mother of pearl. Oh so classy. I put it on over a bottom coat of Sally Hansen Nail Hardener. I didn’t even apply a top coat. I wanted to see how it would wear.
I have been to the dog park and played ball and brushed my dog in the past THREE days that I have had this on. I have hand washed dishes with not gloves on. I have packed items to mail and even got nails stuck on packing tape.
Now, looking at the nails with a magnifying glass (because it’s a pretty clear shade) I can barely see a nick or chip anywhere.
This nail polish applies easily in one coat to the perfect sheer yet there shade and wears beautifully and stands up to some pretty harsh treatment without chipping even without a topcoat.
For all of the above reasons, it’s worth every cent of the about $15 (can’texactly remeber, I ordered over $100 worth of nail polish at the same time) a bottle that this polish cost because of it’s ease of application, beautiful finish and durability.
Definately recommended and 5 lippies. I have GOT to get another bottle of this before they run out. Had to order from Canada as was as couldn’t be found stateside.
5/19/2013: EDIT: I Broke Down and Ordered Butter London’s Bottom and Top Coats to use with their line. I expected to get greater wearing power BUT:
1) With the Bottom Coat (From butter London) Having Somewhat of a “Milky” Colour, it made Hen Party Look like a close Dupe for Wet ‘n Wild’s 2% Milk (on Side by Side Nail Comparisons when the Butter London Top Coat was also applied to each)…an almost EXACT DUPE because you lose a lot of the lovely iredescent opal quality once that milky base coat is applied.
2) I found that I actually got BETTER and LONGER wearing time from the Butter London Hen Party if I did NOT apply a Top Coat over it, almost as if that top coat just made it too heavy and prone to peeling. And more so with the Butter London Top Coat than if I used Wet ‘n Wild as a Top Coat. But I got a good 5 days chip proof wear with NO top coat!
So, for the best opalescent shine and durability I recommend using a clear bottom coat (like Sally Hansen) and NO top coat.

I have to tell you, I am underwhelmed with the entire Butter London line. The colors look gorgeous (in the bottle anyway) and the names are too cute but the lasting power of these polishes – even with the BL base and top coat – is a 2-4 days. I might as well have bought a ds polish instead of a $15 dollar one. Hen Party is, like all the other BL polishes, a gorgeous color! A pinky pearlescent shade that is the ultimate neutral plus. Too bad it only lasts a few days. (Sigh….) BL, you better change your formula or change your packaging to a smaller, “seasonal” bottle because your polishes just don’t last!
EDIT: I have changed my mind about this polish (and this one alone from BL) because it is so gorgeous. Truth be told, I also started using Nail Magic (AMAZING, btw!) as a base and top coat and it recommends you change it every few days anyway. So while the chipping is still a factor, my devotion to Nail Magic has changed my mind about this beautiful color. One extra lippie and yes, I will repurchase!

Beautiful and unique colour (sheer pearlescent white colour with lavendar hues) but like the Trout Pout it only stayed on my nails hardly 24 hours after which it chipped ALOT. No repurchase of Butter London polishes for me. I already have 6 and am kicking myself for purchsing them 🙁 waste of money

Spring Summer 2011 edition, this is my FAVORITE (yep, absolutely favorite) neutral color in my entire stash. I love it! I love it! I love it! Layered over BL’s foundation, over other polishes (ie, Dosh or even Blagger…it’s hot!), this is a must have for any collection. In between my professional manicure I am able to apply this myself…perfectly, the formual is that good and easy. The finish is gorgeous with the most beautiful micro-shimmer. It’s smooth as silk, shiny as can be. Fantastic.

Butter London nail varnishes are amazing I purchased mine from Chelleon http://www.chelleon.co.uk the new Butter London Teddy Girl is really pretty and has real staying power. Chelleon stocked a wide variety of butter london colours and really on trend, my personal favourites are Yummy Mummy and Snog.

Totally in love with this bottle of polish.
Bought this on a whim @ Nordies online, not really knowing what to expect, and I am bowled over with this one.
A winner!
It’s an iridescent sheer that looks pale yellow in the bottle, but when you hold it to the side in the light, you see this sumptuous violet iridescence. That’s what is so different and gorgeous about this one ….
like a good transformative lip glaze (I’m thinking of Bobbi Brown’s old “Opal” or Origins “Transforming”), for myself, this isn’t really a stand alone polish; rather, what makes this one so special is how it can take a good or even great color to the next level.
I recently reviewed Butter London’s “Scoundrel,” which I gave a good rating to, but wasn’t thrilled with. When I looked at “Hen Party,” then looked at “Scoundrel,” I thought … “oh, I think this will work perfect.” Lifted “Scoudrel” into a beautiful, light reflecting lavender that I just loved.
Because of the violet iridescence, I’m guessing that using this over deep neutrals, grays, violets, pinks, milky sheers or very blue based reds would be best, and paleness of this color lightens the color you apply over it, so if you want to add not just vibrancy to a color but perhaps lift it for spring wear, this is worth a try.
Currently have it on over OPI’s “Done Out In Deco,” and I love it. Just luscious.
Must have, although it’s currently sold out at Nordies, and I don’t know if it was a limited edition. If you can pick a bottle up, and love to have colors on hand to play up or play down other polishes, this is one I am pretty certain you’d enjoy.
