5 Apples Tall is from OPI’s Hello Kitty collection released in 2017. it is a pretty red/orange color cream polish. Generally those warmer colors do not look the best on my very pinkish skin tone but for some reason this one worked.
The formula was great. It applied with just a hint of streakiness on the first coat but that could have been operator error. With the second coat it leveled out and was completely opaque. It comes packaged the OPI standard polish bottle with the standard polish brush. It isn’t innovative but it works.
It to good wear from this polish. I will update on staining and ease of removal in a day or so.
OPI runs $10.50 per bottle but you can often find it online for less. 5 Apples Tall might be a little tough to find as the collection was LE. I got mine in a destash.
UPDATE – Removal was easy but messy. Try not to get polish on the skin around your nails as it makes it difficult to clean up. I did have a bit of staining with my typical base coat – CND Stickey.

5 Apples Tall was a limited edition polish released as part of OPI’s Hello Kitty collection. It is a red creme, with warm undertones. On me, it almost appears to have a slight warm coral undertone, making it not quite a true red – but close. The warm undertone makes it particularly flattering on my NC15 skin, and I believe it would look incredible on all warm tones. The formula is excellent – almost a one coater however I needed two just to ensure fully even coverage and opacity. It wore well, lasting 4 days when paired with base and top coat. This colour also makes a lovely pedicure shade. It is a great one to have if you like warm toned reds, the formula makes it stand out from other reds. Unfortunately this colour may be hard to find now! If you can find it, I recommend picking it up.

5 Apples Tall is from the ‘Classic Colors’ half of the spring 2016 Hello Kitty collection, and it is a poppy red creme. In the bottle you can tell that the red has a orange undertone, but on the nail the shade appears less orangey – though still on the slightly warmer side. I’ve removed a lippie because I know that OPI have lots of extremely similar polish shades that you can find cheaper online (including What’s Your Point-setta, Coca Cola Red, Cajun Shrimp & OPI On Collins Avenue), and it’s not like it is a hard shade to find in other brands either.
I don’t own any of the near-dupes, so I can recommend this shade as the formula is a fantastic two coater; it’s neither too thick or too thin, has great pigmentation [it’s almost a one coater], it is smooth, even and non-streaky to apply, and it dries quickly. In general nail polishes will last me anywhere between two to four days with only minimal wear. But as I’m a self powered wheelchair user I’m tough on my hands and am always catching my nails, so I can’t really speak for how long lasting the formula is overall.
So if you don’t own any of OPIs similar red cremes, then this is a great option for you. If you do already own one of OPI’s many other poppy/tomato shades, and like the formula, then you can skip 5 Apples Tall – there is really nothing new on offer here, just a tune-up on a classic shade, like the collection sub-name suggests.

5 Apples Tall is a creme red-orange polish in the Hello Kitty collection released for spring 2016. 5 Apples Tall is Hello Kitty’s height as measured in apples. How cute is that? It would be funny if we measured people with fruit, I could be something like 12 bananas tall, or maybe I’m just bananas. This is a happy warm red and it isn’t a true blue based red but warm and yellow based so it appears red orange but more red than orange. It’s a happy candy colored red creme that applies beautifully on the nails. Really, this formula is great to work with and it glides right on effortlessly. This did not run or drip, no pooling, no flooding my cuticles, no balding or dragging. I did 2 easy coats on this for full coverage, but I could have done 3 because I still saw a shadow where the nail line starts and small details like that bother me, but since I was stamping over it, I left it at two. This is a beautiful polish and it looks great on my fair skin. I think it’s because it’s a warm orangey red. Put it next to an orange and it doesn’t look orange but next to a true red, it doesn’t look red. I do love the little Hello Kitty cap wraps on this collection. It’s always a bonus when the packaging is cute and fun too. I really like this fun red, it feels youthful and carefree. It’s not serious and it’s a fun red orange creme. It makes me happy to look at it on my nails. Great polish OPI! I know what will be on my toes this summer!
