I bought this because of the gorgeous online manis i saw with it. the colour is girly and divine – a lavender leaning pink. i don’t usually buy expensive nail polish but i couldn’t stop thinking about this colour. the formula is wonderful so it justifies the price. i have never gotten as many compliments on my nails than i have with this, from both women and men. i will use this bottle up and buy again if i can’t find a perfect dupe.

I think this is the most divided I’ve ever been about a nail polish. In dim light, it’s a medium cool, very lilac-toned pink, which is what I wanted. In bright light, though, it’s a really ordinary neutral-toned medium pink that I wouldn’t be caught dead in otherwise. Not sure if I’ll hold onto this or not – there has to be a better way to get the bright lilac/pink look.

This is a very lavender toned pink. I am fairly light and have cool undertones. This does kinda blend into my skin tone oddly. I do love this polish though. This isn’t much of a pink for me though, its more of a neutral lol.
Anyhow, the formula is freaking impeccable. Nothing gets better than this. It’s super smooth, applies itself, doesn’t run, doesn’t goop, doesn’t do anything you don’t want it to. Its perfect. It’s also very pricey. It should be for the money and you do get that quality with Illamasqua.
There are MANY dupes for this, one is China Glaze Sweet Talk etc. NONE of them have this perfect formula though.

I love this polish. I like unusual, eye catching, non-boring polishes and yet I’ve also reached a point in my life where I can’t really put up with garish, juvenile, outrageous shades…so sometimes I miss out on the really cool summery shades or end up just using them on my toesies – well, Harem puts a stop to that…it’s unusual, eye catching, definitely not boring and very pretty – even for a mature chick like me!

I stopped buying expensive nail polishes a long time ago because I didn’t see the point in spending that kind of money for polish.
After reading all the rave reviews about Illamasqua polishes, I broke down and got Harem and Marquise.
I decided to wear Harem on fingernails and I’ve gotten so many compliments on them.
The website describes the colour as a bright mauve pink and it is a mauve pink, although bright is all relative. To me, it’s the perfect spring colour.
What really impresses me about the Ilamasqua polish (this one at least) is the durability. My manicure has lasted me a full week without any chips. (I use Seche Vite top coat) I don’t use gloves when I do the dishes and other household chores and normally my manicure starts chipping in about 3 or 4 days but not with the Ilamasqua polish.
This is one polish that is worth the extra few dollars.
Now I’m looking at adding to my collection of Illasmaqua colours.

Just a forewarning: Illamasqua caps are kind of hard to align back perfectly the first time you unscrew it, which makes it hard to put back in the box. However, it’s easily fixable by removing the cap from the top (Butter London style) and then placing the cap back on yourself to your desired alignment. You only have to do this once.
Anyways, Harem is the perfect mix of pink & purple and greatly satisfies my thirst for radiant orchid (Pantone’s color of the year). It’s not neon but it makes the other pink/purple colors in my collection look muted/dusty/dirty LOL. Its brightness makes the color look so… pure, if that makes sense.
The formula is AMAZING. I have 300 nail polishes in my collection and I have never encountered a better formula than Harem. I didn’t even think it was possible for a formula to be soo buttery smooth. Step aside OPI/essie/China Glaze. The color takes 2 coats for opacity/evenness.
Just another example as to how amazing this color is: My mom, who is very selective when it comes to her nail polishes, saw this in my collection, tried it, and went out to Sephora an hour later to buy TWO more Harems for her collection. TWO.

PROS:
– Gorgeous, unique shade that’s not quite pink and not quite lavender
– Smooth and even consistency, practically applies itself
– Decent coverage in 1 coat, completely opaque in 2
– Square cap top pops off to reveal a smaller, more ergonomic handle
CONS:
– Spendy (but a nice treat)
BOTTOM LINE:
Hands down my most-reached-for polish this spring/summer. No dupes in sight.

It takes an awful for me to shell out over £10 on a bottle of nail polish, even more so when the polish itself is £14.50! But in my defence. I had absolutely NOTHING like it in my collection and fell deeply in love with the online swatches. Illamasqua’s new polish ‘Harem’ is a divine pink with strong hints of mauve, lavender and lilac thrown into the mix. To me it’s so gorgeous and utterly unique. It’s bright with a glossy finish and applies like a dream, like most Illamasqua polishes do. I will definitely buy this again, some things you definitely get what you pay for and Harem is definitely worth it for it’s beautiful colour and application.
