I call this my “summer vamp”. It looks black at night, but it’s definitely the color you’d imagine if you’d conjure up “sailor blue”…just a couple shades shy of navy, perfect for those of us who like rocking dark colors in the hot summer months.

This is by far my favorite blue Nail polish of all time! I love, love, love this dark greyish Blue color. It’s a very unique blue color in my humble opinion and I simply adore the way it looks against my NC30 coloring – although I think it would suit ALL skintones! It’s completely opaque in two coats and it’s not streaky. Love!!

This is such a beautiful, royal blue polish. At first I only bought this polish because I was seriously lacking in the dark blue department, but now I find myself wearing this all the time. Application was absolutely perfect and smooth; one coat would be fine, but it looks best with two.
I’m not usually one to wear such dark colors because of my extremely pale skin but I can’t get enough of this, it’s stunning!

Perfect medium-dark navy blue. Very good coverage on the 1st coat, 2 made it perfect. I love China Glaze polishes and this is no exception.

I think this is somewhere between navy and royal blue. It’s too bright to be navy (I love navy but find that it can be a bit flat) but too dark for royal blue (which conversely can be too bright).
Applies very smoothly – I got full opacity in, wait for it…1 coat! Amazing! I was tempted to put on another coat just in case but it absolutely didn’t need it. Gorgeous, creamy lacquer. Reasonably glossy, though a good topcoat doesn’t hurt.
BTW this looks great under a coat of White Out (from the same collection as First Mate)

gorgeous mid-tone navy polish! polish applied beautifully with no streaks, and i was able to achieve opacity in only one coat-which is rare! i feel this would complement any skin tone, am very happy with this purchase.

I LOVE this nail polish! I have to start off by saying that I am extremely picky when it comes to navy blue cosmetics. I once spend 2 hours combined in MAC and Sephora trying to find the perfect navy blue eyeshadow and eyeliner. Maybe it’s because true navy is my favorite color, but like I said, I’m hard to please with navy. I have several navy polishes, all of which have been either too bright or have looked black when applied. When I saw this at my last trip to Sally, it looked perfect. No shimmer, no sheen, no glitter, just a true, flat navy. So of course I picked it up and ran home to try it out.
First Mate is beautiful! It is 100% true navy blue, not too dark, not too light. It is a cream texture, which is my favorite finish. 2 coats and it is completely opaque. The brush is a little bit long, but it is still easy to apply without making a big mess around your nails. This lasts as long as most other China Glaze polishes for me — I do my own nails with a base coat and a top coat, and I get around 5 days of wear before chipping.
Normally as soon as my polish begins to chip, I take it all off and redo my nails with a new color. But I never want to take this one off! It’s a great fall/winter color, but I know I’ll be wearing this year round. This is hands-down my favorite nail polish in my collection. I’m definitely buying a backup!

First Mate is a gorgeous navy blue creme that applies smoothly and is perfectly opaque with two thin coats. There’s not a lot about this polish I can really say that others haven’t already, except for this: If you’re a Doctor Who fan, First Mate is the perfect shade of TARDIS blue.

Pretty matte blue; I paired it with Starboard as a French Manicure and it is stunning. Two coats did the job. Bought this color on a whim – not sure I’d repurchase once I’m through with this bottle.

This is an okay polish. It chipped pretty fast on me but I do a lot of work with my hands so I’m sure that doesn’t help. The color is nice but I didn’t think it was anything super amazing compares to the navy blues I already have. If you don’t already have a nice navy color you should pick it up, but otherwise it’s nothing special.
