Okay, I love Essies, I keep buying them, i love the bottles, i love the colours and mostly i do love the formulas and that makes this review hard to write.
This was one of my first Essie purchases, I bought it in spring 2014 (actually i purchased the whole collection) and it was pretty and my first green polish purchase.
The colour is stunning. Its a very pretty mint green, there is a hint of a shimmer in the bottle which doesn’t translate to the nail other than to say – its a pretty shiny mint green. Love the colour. Its feminine, its spring, its cute. Its not as bright as Mint Candy Apple, but i like it nonetheless.
The formula. wow, it breaks my heart to say this, but,…..its my worst essie formula so far. It is so thin and runny. I did super thin coats, I wiped off as much as possible on the inside of the neck of my bottle before applying it, and this thing ran everywhere. It didn’t want to stay on the nail, it just wanted to bolt like a racehorse to the cuticles and pool there and leave the nail bare. With patience, a clean up brush and 3 coats i was able to eventually get a lovely looking manicure.
It dried nicely, it lasted several days on my nails without chipping, no complaints about the longevity or the colour. Application – for the tenacious and patient people only. I’m not going to purge this one, but I’m not going to rush out and repurchase it either. I’ll just quietly use it up over several years and remind myself to be very very careful with application.
I’m sure this is a dupable colour, I’m sure many other brands make a colour like this. I’d advise you to go buy the Sinful Colors version or the Revlon version or any other brand version over this one because there is no way their formula could be as bad as this:-)
I will keep buying Essies though, because overall i really like the brand.

Very hard color to apply… Takes time and patience but After 4 thin coats it is stunning! A really pretty true mint green. Mint candy apple has much more blue. This is not too light nor dark and not too much blue nor grey. Just a pretty calming mint green. I love it!!!!! Very runny which sucks but if you take the time after 4 coats it is perfection!!! I put Essies silver glitter on each ring finger and whalah perfect for the week of St. Patrick’s day. Yes, I would buy again. Don’t get discouraged if you like the color in the bottle you need patience if not i would not bother buying it.

Pastel sea foam green with a tiny bit of shimmer. I love topping it with bronzey gold glitter. It’s a gorgeous shade.

N’thing all the previous reviews: beautiful color, terrible formula. I got it for $3.99 at Marshalls, so for the price I’m happy enough, but I wouldn’t pay full price. It’s streaky and it chips fast. But the color is gorgeous. 3 lippies.

Beautiful color, terribly streaky formula. Three coats in and I can still see spots of nail underneath! I’m a sucker for pastels, particularly greens, so I’ll try a white first coat with my next mani featuring this polish to try to help boost the opacity. I love the color and the microsparkles too much in this to give up just yet!

Just bought this color and applied it today. I can see complaints about the formula being streaky, but a 3rd coat really helped. It’s a pretty color for my short nails.

The color is beautiful, but this particular color applies very sheer and streaky. Would not buy again.

I went to the store planning to choose between Mint Candy Apple and Turquoise and Caicos as my aqua shade for spring, but when I saw this color I was instantly in love. It is more pigmented and greener than Mint Candy Apple, which I was concerned would look almost white on my nails; but it is lighter and cleaner than Turquoise and Caicos, which seems to have a gray undertone. It is a beautifully creamy pale aqua with crystal shimmer particles. As with many of Essie’s pastels, this is incredibly sheer and requires three coats and a lot of time to dry. I wish Essie made her pastels more opaque, but it’s still a beautiful color and wears well, especially for having shimmer in it (it has a clear crystal shimmer). I would buy this again.

Essie’s Fashion Playground is a very smooth, mint-greenish polish with subtle shimmer in it. I’ve heard people commenting that the dupe Mint Candy Apple is more blue than this. The formula is okay to me as I’ve acquired some experiences in applying thin layers. Honestly, I think Essie’s polish is generally a lot easier to apply than Sally Hansen’s. I used to wear Sally Hansen’s Mint Sorbet and gosh, the chipping and dry time were nightmare to me in spite of its gorgeous, sea-foam green color. For Essie’s Fashion Playground, it takes me two layers and one shiny top coat to achieve that look in the pictures. And the longevity is decent too! It lasted on my hand for a whole week without chipping or reapplication.I absolutely adore this one.
