In 2008 China Glaze released their much-lusted-after OMG holographic polish collection, and now for it’s ten year anniversary they’ve re-released six out of the original twelve shades as the OMG Flashback collection. I’ve got a few of their original OMG polishes and think that the strength of the holographic shimmer between the two collections is about the same – such a relief, because the holographic shades from the brand post-OMG have been pretty “meh” overall.
DV8 is a blue-leaning-teal shade, that is filled with a linear holographic shimmer. I had the chance to buy an original bottle of DV8 a few years ago but passed because loads of people said that it had a bad formula, so I was a bit hesitant to buy it now…
… But as it turns out, the new formula for DV8 is awesome. The formula is a fantastic in one coat, if you apply a thicker coat, though I do always recommend (at least) two thinner coats of any polish for a better wear time – but it’s nice to know that if you don’t have a lot of time to spend on your mani, that this is a good time-saving option. The formula is neither too thick or too thin, has great pigmentation, it is smooth, even and non-streaky to apply, it dries quickly, and I’ve not experienced any staining, bleeding, or shrinkage [I always wear a basecoat]. In general nail polishes will last me anywhere between two to four days with only minimal wear. But as I’m a self powered wheelchair user I’m tough on my hands and am always catching my nails, so I can’t really speak for how long lasting the formula is overall.

very pretty color. i didnt like the formula on this one as much as the other polishes, perhaps a bad batch? It was pretty streaky, hard to get an even layer. other than that, no problems, i really liked the polish.
Rated 5 out of 5 by pattymom from Perfect First time applied polishes and great look This polishes at 8 ml each. A nice contrast to my other pictures of this brush, a nice contrast to Myo Filius. Just enough for my last reviewer’s character to want to see the silver shimmer to see. I love how it rubs all over the hands like it is meant to do so with a matte.
Rated 4 out of 5 by kbnewsmom from Really nice Review by @j_oe from Great polish and looks just like the one I used, so I’m really pleased with my purchase and feel free to return it
Rated 5 out of 5 by Kimsx55 from Favorite Polishes of the Year This is the first time this polish has arrived. I absolutely love this polishes. I used this in my grad school nails the first time and it has really impressed me. I received 3 new shades so far. I really do need to get more when I receive a size 7 or 8, but with this I cannot complain. Perfect color and a really nice finish.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Christine From Love this polish Great all over I love this metallic brown color so far. My first time using polishes the first time I got this so much great all over

Hmmm something doesn’t do it me about this particular shade of teal. I wouldve loved if it was a more peacock teal holo like i imagined.
other than that it chipped quite quickly with a base and top coat. i think it took about a day. but still nice to look at.

I totally agree with Mrs Brightside. Beautiful holographic teal with possibly the worst application of any nail polish I’ve ever used 🙁 Even with basecoat and topcoat it chipped in a few hours in several places.

This shade is a beautiful striking holographic teal. China Glaze makes the most amazing holo polishes.
It applied well for me and wore well (unlike LOL the purple in this collection which chipped quickly.)

Love ChG’s DV8. It is the most unique holographic teal out there on the market. Actually, it may be the only true teal holographic available…Application was problematic as others have mentioned. The formula was very runny, and hard to control the amount applied with each swipe of the brush. But, after 2 coats, and a bit of cleanup, all was well and the shade on my nails was the same as the bottle. I applied Revlon Colorstay topcoat to seal the deal, and after 2 days now, not a chip in sight. Looks great with my fair, pink undertoned skin. But I can see this working on all skintones. Really eyecatching and vibrant in the sun, as the light really picks up on all the different sparkles and holographic elements. 4.5 lippies!

Meh.. I guess I was just expecting something a little bit different. I’m a teal fanatic and this really isn’t. I bought this due to the colour shown in the CG ads… but they weren’t really accurate. The ads show a deep turquoise whereas this was more of an electric blue

Rainbow holographic teal. I was expecting more holograph but it’s still cool and pretty.

4.5. The color is fabulous. A very wearable midrange teal indoors, and a knockout vivid midrange teal with rainbow outdoors! This looks much better on than in the bottle. The application is a touch tricky, not too little or too much polish on the brush and a light hand helps. Let it dry completely between coats. 2 coats for full coverage. I am on day 4 and only have nominal edgewear.

A great teal with halo. One of my favorites of the OMG collection, even without the halo it’s pretty and flattering. I skipped the base coat so I had no problems with application and got bottle color in 2 coats. It has average wear. No real chips after abou 5 days but I did have tip wear (as seen below).
