This “neon” purple polish is part of Essie’s summer 2013 collection.
Even though I never thought I would wear a neon, I was for some reason attracted to it. I got an Essie coupon so I decided to try it.
What I love about it is that it is darker than most of the summer colors. I like wearing dark polish, but that seems more of a winter thing. I’m already so sick of coral and pastel blue I could puke. This purple was fun, edgy, and dark without being too drastic or crazy. Yeah, it is slightly bright, but I don’t think neon when I see it. I think grape.
I don’t love the consistency. Sort of watery. Even after three thin coats, it seemed like it needed more and was uneven. I applied a topcoat, which didn’t help much. It is darker in the bottle than on the nail. It dried relatively quickly compared to other Essie polishes.
I’m really glad I discovered it. I don’t think I could get through the summer with coral nails the whole time, and the othe neons just aren’t my thing. Also, this purple makes my skin seem tanner, and complements the base tan I have nicely.
