This is a cream, dusky blue polish. I bought it in a pound store, so my expectations have been low. But against all the odds I am really impressed with this polish. The colour looks very flattering on me. I particularly like it topped with China Glaze Fairy Dust or INM Northern Lights. The polish is easy to apply; perfect opacity in 2 coats and the staying power is brilliant too.

I really love dusty, muted colors and this polish is just that. A dusty aqua blue. It is very striking and i cant wait to wear it in spring & summer. Im really impressed with the formula of the new colorstay polishes. Theyre affordable and application is pretty easy.

Blue Slate is a dusty medium blue color. It has good opacity – you could make it work in one coat if you wanted. I used two coats because I had a few tiny streaks, and because i just prefer to put on two coats. The brush on this line is a little different from your standard nail polish brush – it’s a little shorter and a little wider than average. It’s nothing like the giant brushes in the Spoiled line of polishes, it’s just a little wider, and I found myself really liking the little extra width and that it was slightly shorter. It made it easy for me to completely polish each nail with a minimum of brush strokes. The formula is not to thick or too thin, and goes on very well. Overall I love this color, since I am fond of greyed out / dusty shades of all types, and I like the formula and the brush. This line of polish is more expensive than Revlon’s other lines and I don’t think it’s worth the markup, so I would recommend buying it on sale and/or using a coupon.

Different type of blue in my blue nail colors collection. Very opaque, just one coat between base and top coats is enough for me. I applied Ulta Silk base coat first and top with Seche Vite top coat. You can see my day 1 and day 9 pictures here:
I have one chip on my left index finger. I wash dishes/pots and chopped veggies. I must have chopped my nail color ;P
I love Colorstay nail colors more than regular Revlon nails, speed nails, etc. Lasting quality is significant. So does the price!
Bottom line: very long lasting as “colorstay” name applied.

This is, just like the name says, a lovely slate blue color. I achieved full opacity and a nice, shiny finish with just one coat, which is a very pleasant surprise. Application was a bit tricky though… This is a thick formula and the short, squat brush doesn’t make it easy for an even coat to effortlessly glide over nails. I had much more clean-up to deal with than usual. I said I would not re-purchase this because I am always on the look-out for new polishes to try and this is not especially unique, but it was a worthy purchase.
ETA: This started chipping not even a full 24 hours after I applied it. Part of this is my fault because I didn’t apply a top coat but this is still terrible wear time.

it’s my first time using the ‘colorstay’ line and i’m very surprised. i’ve only tried the regular revlon line twice, both times i found their polishes to be less than poor quality and returned/got rid of asap. i got this as it was on sale(1.60 something like that) and i have to say the drying time and color pay off is extremely improved. you can get away with 1 coat if applied smoothly, being a dark color that’s saying a lot. they drying time was also about an hour(i did two coats) which was decent(as the regular line was various hrs, one wasn’t even dry after 24+). i did find the formula to be very thick and goopy yet leaving tracks wasn’t a real problem. the brush, i also had a problem with, i found it to be too small and short to glide over the nails smoothly. overall i say it’s greatly improved from revlon’s regular line(scented line as well) yet the application is a hassle(i had a lot of cleanup around the nail). it’s true to color. i don’t think the color itself is that unique and i personally found it kind of drab so may return it. i would repurchase in another color but not this one specifically.

I love the color. I bought it because i don’t own one like it and I own hundreds of polishes. However, I’m disappointed with the wear. I put it on last night after my bath with a base and top coat, and after my shower this morning, the edges had already chipped on a few fingers. Ill try a different base and top coat just because i love the color, but for a colorstay product i guess i was expecting more.

Years ago, before I really knew anything about nail polish, I always wore Colorstay nail polishes because they wore like iron. Although I was disappointed in the limited color selection, I lived with it because I could do my nails once a week with limited tip wear and no chipping. Then Revlon discontinued the line, and I branched out and learned how to do a proper manicure, so I kind of “got over” Colorstay nail polishes. However, when I saw that Revlon had reissued the line, and with new colors, I bought Blue Slate for nostalgic sake. They no longer come with the top coat, but I believe you can buy it separately, as well as a base coat. I just used Gelous as base coat and Seche Vite as top coat and it was fine. The formula seems very similar to the old Colorstay – a little on the thick side, very opaque, prone to bubbles if not applied in thin coats, slow to dry if you do not use a quick dry top coat. I think Revlon is trying to market these as a gel nail polish, but to me, it seems like the old Colorstay. So to summarize, if you liked the original Colorstay, you will probably like this version. I guess because I know a lot more about nail polish now, I am not as enamored with Colorstay as I used to be, but I am still happy that it’s back and will probably stock up on a few colors if they go on sale and I have a coupon.
