I have tried many BB lipsticks, they are often recommended to WOC. But I really feel they are overrated and too expensive for the quality of the formulation. I recently decided to try BB again because a friend likes Blackberry. However, I am not impressed with it. It is basically a brown lipstick with an ever so slight hint of berry in it. It is somewhat sheerer that other brands of lipsticks in this color family so it doesn’t look Goth when applied but it is definitely nothing special, especially at $29 a tube. You could get the same color in a better formula from Revlon, CoverGirl, Maybelline etc.- I found the BB formula to be drying. It also has a weird smell.
For the price, this should be a much better formulated lipstick. Not worth the money.

Finally found a BB lipstick I don’t love. The color is fine… vampy / dark… but the color is uneven and leaves my lips looking patchy. I keep going back to this one and, after today, will gift or toss. I’m rather low-maintenance makeup-wise, so this may work fine for those who do more than swipe and smile!

This is for the lipstick from Bobbi Brown called Blackberry. (not the Lip Shine that they used to have). The lipstick itself is nice but over priced as is the case with all BB products. The color is what I liked best. It is a deep, deep shade, almost vampy but with a brown berry undertone instead of the purple berry or red of most other similar shades. Also the more sheer/glossy texture of this lipstick kept the shade from sucking life out of your skin. The juicy look of the shade combined with the deep shade allows me to wear this in a way I could not if this were matte or a thicker cream. I am nw20, deep winter, almost black hair, brown eyes. I can wear very deep shades, but usually they tend to be more berry, red or purple toned. Brown bases are hard for me, but Blackberry, while more brown based & glossy than other similar toned shades I have (MAC Jasper, UD Blackmail, UD Disturbed, MAC Selena Dreaming of You, MAC Dark Side, etc), still falls into that red, brown plum arena that makes it wearable for me. I tried to tell myself I didn’t need this, but it gives such a distinctive, sophisticated look, I had to have it. This isn’t a shade I would wear every day (maybe in the fall it will get more wear), but I love the impact it has.
One final thought. A shade like MAC Dark Side is perfection for my deep winter complexion. If you are a deep autumn, BB Blackberry would be amazing on you!

The Good: Perfect for creating a blotted out berry stain.
The Bad: Crayon smell?
Also, the color is really dark and dramatic, but something I would wear full on occassionally, except it’s absolutely impossible for me to get full, EVEN coverage with this lipstick formula. Bit of a letdown.
I wouldn’t repurchase, mainly because with the way I just dab on minimal amounts one tube is bound to last me a lifetime.

I love this color, I have medium-deep african american skin and this is beautiful on me. I love it. The formula is really nice too.

Wow! I expected to find more reviews for this color. This shade was recommended to me a while ago as a great color for African-American women and I totally agree with that opinion. I am an NC 44 or Bobbi Brown Golden and I loved how this shade looks on me. It is a dark berry but can be blotted to form an nice matte stain. It also works well with gloss. It is probably more of a fall color but I am still wearing it in the summer; just with a lighter application. I love the texture of all BB lipsticks. They are pricey but of very good quality. BB continues to be a great makeup line for women of color.

It is a beautiful color and goes on like a dream, the texture and the finish is fabulous. will buy again as soon as I run out

Blackberry is a dark royal blue, cream polish.
It has a great formula. I only needed one coat to get full opacity. The colour is not the most unique or the most exciting. Indoors it looks very dark (nearly black). Having said that I would still repurchase it, because the great formula means I can use it as a base colour, it also worked well as a stamping polish.
I am a fan of Barry M polishes. At £2.99 -£3.99 a piece, they are hard to beat.

Blackberry is a Revlon classic. It’s come and gone in the Revlon nail color lineup for ages — I bought my first bottle in high school. I prefer deeper, less frosty polishes now; Divine is a similar Revlon color but is a deeper wine shade, with a more subtle shimmer, and is far more sophisticated.

I recommend this to anyone with a warm complexion. Lovely medium-toned wine red shimmer. Applies well, but not the best lasting power. Someone with skills could probably get away with one coat. I have skinny fingers, so I don’t mind the brush, and I like the long neck on the bottle.
I’d repurchase if I ran out – definitely a go-to in my arsenal.

I bought this today at Duane Read for $1.50 because it is on clearance for 75% off. As most people said the name Blackberry is misleading as it is more of a rose color. I put it on me and I didn’t like the color at all! No offense to the people who love this color, but to me, its more of an “old lady” color polish. Its a rose color with a pink undertone… its not a color for me so I will be returning it. But as for the quality of nail polish, it goes on smoothly and drys fast without any streaky marks.

Beautiful classic deep red shot through with golden shimmer. This is one of those colors that instantly makes my hands look grown up 🙂 The wear isn’t brilliant and I did put on a topcoat (so maybe it’s the topcoat’s fault?) so minus half a point for that and minus half a point because when I take it off, my nails are still stained red.
Still a keeper and a sold 4 lippies.

i’ve had this polish for YEARS actually! i didnt really use it back then, but i started using it again, and i dont really like it. it seems so crack and chip really easy. i put it on and the next day it was chipping all over! the color doesn’t seem so pretty either. maybe its because i’ve had it for so long? i don’t know! whatever it is, im not too fond of it!

This color on me (tan skin with yellow undertones) is a very warm, muted, coppery metallic red. More of the warm coppery layer comes through on me, and the color is really beautiful. By contrast, when I wear OPI’s I’m Really Not a Waitress, more of the pinkish cooler red tones come out on me. I really love this color as it is very elegant and makes my nails look “dressed up”. It’s a sophisticated color for the holidays, and a great break from the usual metallic reds. I’ve layered this over dark red nail polish (a la Chanel’s Vamp) and it looks great, like…. a darker, more mysterious cousin of itself. I might layer it over black nail polish next…. While I love to play around with different colors, Blackberry has a permanent place in my nail polish collection, so yes, if I ever do run out, I will definitely re-purchase.
The quality is the usual Revlon- does not last as long as OPI and the formula is a bit gloppy, so you have to be careful when you put it on. But the combination of the color and the price makes it worthwhile.

Fantastic, deep burgundy wine shimmer. Very classic. Goes on smoothly and lastly fairly well.

This is my night out lipstick shade, because its really glossy and deep and really dresses up my evening make-up look. In my opinion, Bobbi Brown has one of the best lipstick formula’s available from department store brands, but I still wish that Aromaleigh made more colors for people with darker skin, as their lipstick formula is the best I’ve ever used.

*sigh* It had to happen one day. This is one BB lip color that left me almost totally unsatisfied. The color looks like Clinique’s Black Honey in the tube–a slick, shiny black that surely had to be a ripe, berry shade, right? WRONG! My fault too, as I bought this without testing it first. The color actually goes on deep dark, looking much more muddy than plum. It even looked too muddy to be considered “brown.” In fact, given the stale smell of the stuff, I felt like a goth chick who had raided her grandma’s rotten old burnt umber lipstick. Ugh! Still, I must give Bobbi points for staying power and creamy matteness yet again. I’d rather buy a dud of a BB lipstick than a passable color in a substandard formula. At least I can swap this in good conscience to someone who can make the shade work!
