Hurt No Living Thing came out as an addition to the Heavenly Quotes line back in 2014. It’s a sheer grey base with with pink/purple shimmer. I believe it could be used by itself, but you will need numerous coats to make it opaque, not to mention plenty of patience for all those coats to dry. I think it is better used as a topper. In my picture I have used 1 coat over a dark grey cream.
I am a fan of AEngland polishes, I find them all interesting and great quality. However, this polish was a slight disappointment. It didn’t look as striking as I thought it would. This may be because in the last couple of years a number of Indies have spoiled us with a massive choice of ‘unicorn pee’ style toppers.

Hurt No Living Thing is from A-England’s [Alchemy England; UK cruelty and 3-free indie brand] Heavenly Quotes collection, and it is now also in their The Outlet section (selected shades are 2 for £9, 3 for £10.50, or 4 for £11) – once it’s gone it’s gone, so if you like the look of it, buy it now. The shade is a sheer dove grey, with a baby pink iridescence.
So far this shade is my only disappointment with the A-England brand; their site says that not only is this shade a topper, but that it can also be worn alone and shows photos of a opaque-looking polish, which leads you to think that this shade will reach full coverage… Sorry to say this, but no, you can’t wear this beautiful shade alone – unless you have hand model worthy nails, as this polish still wasn’t close to being opaque after I applied 4 coats, and it will pool around any imperfections on the nail leaving an uneven finish. As a topper this is nice; adding iridescence, prolonging wear to polishes, and working with almost every colour of base shade [peach is the only shade I’ve found that doesn’t work with it]. I think this shade looks the best over lilac, baby blue, dove grey, cream or taupe – just remember that the grey base will lightly tint whatever shade you layer it over.
Hurt No Living Thing is pretty and versatile, but I don’t appreciate being lead to believe that I was buying something different to what I got, as the beautiful shade and finish of this polish can’t be enjoyed – wearing any shade of base mites it. I never would have bought this polish if the site had been clearer – if I hadn’t paid the equivalent of 50p for this shade, I probably would have complained to the company.
