Update: The more I use this palette, the more I like it. Seriously one you can use for travel; thin and light yet gives many options for eye looks. The only shadow I tend not to use is the shimmery aqua; I’d have used a darker navy but over all, I grab it almost every day and it’s really good. I’d name this “My Palette Find of 2019”
The Zodiac Palette is from Kathleen Lights Youtube influencer collab. It’s 12 eyeshadows meant to work in groups, representing the 12 Zodiac signs. This has caused some frou-rah, as some of the colors are neutral mattes and thus have bummed out those who feel their sign has been given a boring color. As in “Virgo” who is a cool brown but apparently Virgos are into the bright shiny gem colors. Not my ex husband who loved brown everything but then he doesn’t wear makeup (that I know of.) This makes me laugh. This controversy would never have happened to Jeffree Star, who would have put in all the colors of a child’s box of street chalk and left it at that but no, Ms Lights wants eye looks that go day to night. So this palette does that. My sign, Capricorn, as an earth sign, is a shiny warm charcoal with gold flecks. I hate black shadow but it works as a liner, so damn. There are groups of shadows: Virgo the cool brown, Taurus a warm taupe, Libra a matte fleshy pink, Cancer a moony pinkish shimmer, Germini, bright brassy gold, Leo warm sunny shimmery gold and Aries, fiery sunset copper gold. Sagittarius is a deep mulberry, Scorpio a blood maroon and Aquarius is an ocean blue while Pisces is a shimmery aqua.
I can do a day look of Libra and Taurus with Virgo as smoke or liner, and then I can make a wild blue or aqua eye with Capricorn (black) in the corners for a party look. Or go light and shimmery. Or smokey purple. Very versatile.
The price is low-ish (ColourPop is a low priced line) and add in the What’s My Sign lipstick and you have a bunch of stuff along with any of the highlighers that won’t break the bank and will go in your makeup bag for travel and solve your makeup issues in one go. I love palettes like this for travel. “On the Cusp” is the highlighter that is made for this set (a brassy gold) but I’m too light for it and I don’t like the formula so much. You could use Cancer as the highlighter from this set.
As a palette, like it a lot. Fun but also not something you mess with one time, with the video pr9pped up next to your mirror and then throw in the drawer. The palette itself is cardboard with a mirror and thin. Has a box you can keep it in, so travel worthy.
