   Wow, I can’t believe the terrible reviews for this! I absolutely love it. The only colour i’m not too keen on is Champara.

   Kamet looks pretty boring and blah in the pan, but it is amazing on. It’s great as a base, or even in the crease when I want a really simple, neutral look for work. The lasting power on all of them is absolutely amazing

   I got this in a set at beautycrunch so the price wasn’t too bad. The only good color of the bunch is Makalu, I love it. It has replaced my black shadow from MAC (carbon). Its just the blackest e/s i own. But I don’t care for the rest of the shadows. They just don’t show up on me 🙁 But for the e/s case and Makalu it was worth it.

   For the record, I really love regular stila eyeshadows. Love the colours, pigmentation, the way they apply, etc. I don’t even mind the packaging. BUT these were a massive disappointment. Just find them totally unworkable, so difficult to blend- the just end up looking really dirty. The colours are quite lovely in the pans but just don’t look any good on. And the smell! They have a really nasty chemical smell that makes me feel quite nauseated. And (a petty point here) I can never remember the names of the shadows- mountain names have no relevance to the shade so I can’t remember which is which. I don’t know why but for some reason it is important to me to know and remember the name of the eyeshadow I am putting on! Please tell me I’m not the only one.

   LE 2008 Dec Minimalism Set; originally released LE 2006?

   Kamet – matte taupe with grey and pink undertones
   Champara – matte light camel-tan, neutral toned
   Sajama – matte dove grey (medium-dark grey) with blue undertones
   Makalu – matte black

   Product – Matte eyeshadow quad. Two cool-toned shades (Kamet and Sajama) and two neutral shades (Champara and Makalu). Somewhat boring to look at, but a nice staple if you like mattes. Many of the other reviews said the shadows were chalky, but I don’t really agree. The surfaces are not hard, and definitely not too hard to work with. True, the texture is a bit harder/firmer than some other Stila shadows which tend to be so soft they turn to a silky dust under a brush… so I’m not sure how this is really a problem. The shadows are matte, after all, and mattes tend to be less silky than their shimmery counterparts. As long as it’s easy to pick up with my brush, easy to apply, and wears reasonably well, I’m a happy camper. Anyhoo… I don’t have any trouble blending or layering with these shadows (though I use Makalu as a liner only). With a flat liner brush, Makalu goes on easily and with rich color. My favorite look with this palette is Makalu as liner, Sajama on lid, and Kamet as a wash – for a slightly smoky cool-toned eye look suitable for work.
   
   Packaging – Comes in the standard Stila refillable quad palette – hefty and sturdy, with a full size mirror under the lid, magnetized wells, and no brush niche. The pans are individually labeled.
   
   Overall – Usually I gravitate to palettes with a mix of finishes, but I’m quite pleased with this set of mattes. Glad I took a chance on this quad, and would gladly do so again. Also, I’m glad I got this in a swap; not sure I would pay full retail for it.
   
   UPDATE – I get more use out of these pans by mixing and matching with other Stila finishes and combinations.
