When I read reviews of this product on a local website, most people seemed to hate it but It’s my HG Contour
It’s a three pan palette(each pan has 3.5 gr product) and includes contour, bronzer and highlighter.I like it’s packaging.it doesn’t look fancy but I like that it’s not huge so that it can be travel friendly, there was no need to sacrifice my nails in order to open it and it doesn’t open by itself when I carry it in my bag.I like that it comes with a mirror.there’s a diagram on back of it’s box to help people new to contouring to use it
What I love in this kit is it’s contour shade.unfortunately I had this product just for a month before losing it (and I don’t put on makeup every day)(I took it to travel and I saw it’s not in my suitcase anymore when I returned home!) so I didn’t have enough opportunities to play with it and find a way to make the other two shades to work for me
It says in it’s instructions to use:
Step 1:contouring under the cheekbones and on sides of the nose
Step 2: bronzing on the cheek contour
Step 3: illumination of the nose, forehead and the middle of the chin
About step 1,contour
As mentioned before I love it’s contour and I’m going to repurchase it just for it’s contour pan even if I never touch the other two pans(it’s only 6 USD here so I can justify it)
I have fair skin and most contours look too dark on me,or they have orange undertone(I’m looking at you WetnWild) and I believe a warm undertone is suitable for a bronzer not a contour..this one has a cool undertone but it’s not too gray or ashy.it’s not pigmented and I believe it’s why a lot of people don’t like it.but It’s also one of the biggest reasons I love it! I love soft, buttery, super pigmented eyeshadows but for a contour(and blush) I prefer a mild, buildable pigmentation.I’m not an expert or a talented makeup artist.with a pigmented contour there’s a big chance of overdoing and making a mess.also the very soft powder contours usually have a lot of fall out and can ruin my foundation while this one stays in place and I never look like a hot mess with it
Other than problem of shades and pigmentation, most contours don’t blend well or don’t sit well on my dry skins (Nyx is one of the rare creamy contours which blends on my skin),but this Golden Rose Contour doesn’t look powdery, cakey or patchy and there’s no need to spend a lot of time and effor to blend it.it just gives me very natural defining and is great for a no makeup makeup, also it doesn’t fade or look dirty at the end of the day
About step 2
Eventhough I’m pale,it’s bronzer seemed to be too light for me.some people may like it but it even didn’t look like a real bronzer to me,I believe a bronzer must be something in between of warm brown and golden but this one seems to be a very pale warm shade and it’s completely matte while I prefer my bronzer to have a satin like glow.for me it could probably serve as an eyeshadow (just that I don’t like orange based shadows) I prefer my Bourjois Bronzer to this one
Step 3
It’s a matte highlighter, there’s no shimmer, glow whatsoever. It’s like compact powders that we use to set over makeup. It’s color is nice for a fair skin but I didn’t like it as I found not much use for it.once I tried it to set my concealer and brighten under my eyes but it looked a bit dry(but bear in mind that all powder products look dry under my eyes) and I prefer to use glowy highlighters on my cheekbones but it was nice to use it on the bridge of my nose to create a contrast.I guess also could use it as a base for my eyeshadow.if you are fair and prefer to use matte highlighter or just dust it all over your face it may be useful for you
All in all I loved this palette just for it’s contour and paying 6$ for just a contour is still reasonable and I can think of it’s two other pans as extra offers
