   This is a great palette for travel, and, for the most part, each product is extremely useful. Personally,I am a little disappointed with this foundation. I’ve heard many positive things about it. I like to have a cream foundation on hand , but, sinceTheBalm discontinued its oustanding Timebalm foundation, I haven’t found that’s just right. This foundation has excellent ingredients, and I think it looks more like actual skin than any other foundation I’ve ever tried. It’s remarkably lightweight, fragrance-free, and buildable. However, my main complaint with this foundation is the shade choice, or lack thereof. (Rihanna, you’ve spoiled us all…)

   With Eve Pearl foundation, if you want to pay $250 for a palette containing every available shade (the HD Pro Palette contains 12 shades), I’m sure you could sucessfully mix shades to find an individual color match. This is, no doubt, what Eve Pearl does for her clientelle…otherwise she’d have about 144 customers.

   But who wants that expense, and that amount of work for everyday makeup? Based on photos on websites, I bought this in “Medium”. I suspected that Tan would be better for me, but the model in the photo seemed quite “cool toned” so I was afraid the Tan would have pink undertones. (I have no idea whether it does or not, because I’ve never seen this makeup other than this palette, which I got from QVC). The foundation is a dual-cake of cream with very light makeup on one side, and slightly darker makeup on the other side. Eve Pearl, for some reason, recommends that the darker side be darker than your skin. In the pan the “darker” shade looks like it might be darker than my skin, but when it’s applied it’s much too light. The light shade literally looks white on my skin. The instructions for contouring are to put a strip of the very light side below the apples of cheeks and cheekbones, and use the darker shade everywhere else, and to blend in with the light shades on the cheeks. A video of Eve Pearl shows her swirling a brush around a client’s cheeks, blending the colors together. How this provides “contour” is a mystery to me. All this blending does for me is make the darker foundation even worse of a match for my skin. As I use this up, I use the darker shade alone and tell myself I’ll use the light shade for highlighting. Sadly, after only a few uses I’m seeing the bottom of the pan! I have liquid foundations for years…so I would never repurchase something so expensive that runs out so quickly.

   Which reminds me of the rest of the palette. In addition to the “famous” Eve Pearl duo-Foundation, this palette contains 2 shades of the iconic salmon concealer, a yellow “highlighter”, a white “illuminator”, and a little cake of peach cream blush. I like the salmon concealers, but I can’t use them under my eyes because their greasiness makes my mascara run all over my face. I have never in my life had such terrifying raccoon eyes. People were actually asking if I was crying or having an allergy attack or something. The only thing different in my makeup was salmon concealer. I tried it a couple more times with the same disastrous results. No concealer is worth distruction of my $30 mascara.

   The yellow brightener reminds me of my much beloved, and tragically discontinued BeneFit LemonAid. This brightener is my favorite thing in the whole palette, and I definitely use it more than the other products. The white “illuminator” looks like every other illuminator, ever. It looks glittery, shiny, bright, and very light. My natural oils need no assistance in their ability to illuminate my skin, so this “illuminator” wind up under my eyebrows, when it’s used at all.

   The cream blush is a lovely peach color that looks great with my peach/orange/warm-toned lipsticks (not my reds). Like the foundations, however, this is not a great match for normal-oily/oily skin. The blush lasts about 4 minutes before it begins the melting process.
