This palette suits me fine — but I can see why there are conflicting opinions on this product!
Normally I use my fingers to apply shadow and use brushes for specific looks. The Extreme Neutrals palette is one of those palettes where you need both tools (fingers and brushes) depending on whether you’re using a matte shade, or a pearlescent shade. Ratio to mattes and pearls are half and half, so 6 pans each. The pearlescent shades are soft enough to where you can use your fingers — but when it comes to the matte shadows, I highly suggest using a flat/dense brush or fluffy brush (depending on the effect you’re going for). There are two mattes that are pesky AF, and for me it’s the lightest and darkest matte (2nd to the left on the top, and last one on the right on the bottom). They are chalky when you swatch them with your fingers, but when I used a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush, it picked up fine. Just know that some of the matte pans need a little ‘loosening up’, and realistically, chalkiness is usually always a recurring problem with matte formulas.
What I like the most about this palette is that I can see myself using EVERY color. There’s NO wasted space here. There’s also 2 purple-tinted shades that are wearable and really compliment brown eyes. Cocoa Rose is my FAVORITE color, it’s so unique — which was the predominant reason I bought this palette. (It definitely wasn’t the weird scaly packaging design. What is it? Alligator? Snake? Chicken skin?)
All in all, a very underrated palette.
edit: for the chalkier matte shades, I suggest using a brush instead of your fingers: you get a more intense color pay-off this way!

While the colors are pretty, the formula is horrible. Dry, chalky, and damn near impossible blend out. If you do spend the time to try and blend these shadows they just get muddy. I gave this away because where I live there is no returns on cosmetics.

I’m going to go against the trend and say that I really like this palette. I’m a mature woman, i have hooded eyes and I’m into neutrals suitable for the office. This palette does the job.
I can put together a variety of really lovely work appropriate neutral eye looks with this palette. I put my make up on before 7am in the morning and my eye makeup still looks good at 7 or 8pm at night. Its a great little workhorse.
I like the way the colours are arranged in the pan, instead of the two lines of mattes and shimmers that you get in the artist palettes, this is arranged into 3 x quads, so for the unadventurous/time poor/artistically challenged people such as myself, I can put together different looks by following the suggestions in the palette layout. Like the Maybelline Nudes palette, this one appears to be 3 x quads as you work from left to right, groups of 3 from left to right and top to bottom, plus pairs, so a variety of work appropriate looks that you can create while learning how to put colours together.
Its nice subtle satins and mattes, again, perfectly suitable for mature skin (or those who don’t want glitter fall out everywhere), the colours are nicely pigmented and build up nicely. Its not super over the top pigment like other palettes, but that’s okay because I don’t want really heavy eyeshadow looks for the office, i need nice neutral subtle professional looks for work. I can build these up for going out if i want, but I’m happy with this product.
The pan sizes are the same as the artist palettes, its going to give me a few good years of every day looks and its going to be a palette i enjoy and that’s what matters. Those who want lots of bright strong colours and glitters – that’s what other brands aimed at younger women are for.

This one is a definite regret. I wish I had found it in-store rather than purchase on-line, I would have totally changed my mind after swatching.
The colors are gorgeous but the formulation is much dryer than her other eyeshadows, including other Artist Palettes (I own them all). This palette is a swing and a miss in regards to formulation; dry, chalky and impossible to blend. The shadows make my eyelids look old and crepey, though they are not.
Save your money and spend it on something else, this one is a pass.
