They are back! ELF had a bunch of Disney merchandise out again this month/last month I think I managed to snag all of this year’s palettes/products except the brushes, eyeliner set, & nailpolish set for economy’s sake. I will tell you I’m a huge ELF fan. They are the best DS makeup out there consistently & if anyone wants to order this stuff go to Walgreens site or drugstore dot com between those both I didn’t even have to leave the house! I will admit I don’t do Disney except I thought these palettes had good (grownup) makeup since I don’t have kids & im pushing 40 I don’t keep up w Disney even in my youth I found it boring, I love how some of these palettes come w instructions for the clueless most uncreative individual (me!) day & night looks. That is awesome! + I didn’t pay more than $10 ea. item is a steal! I bought them coz the artwork/packaging is beautiful in durable cardboard & the makeup allows me to step out of my comfort zone (hi UD Naked franchise!) of neutral Browns & w instructions I won’t look so straight clownin. ELF included the instructions from top MA’s I’m sure. The packaging isn’t even juvenile it manages to appeal to Disney fans I’m sure but it’s the makeup inside that keeps bringing me back! I’d buy these even if they hadn’t been Disney just coz of my love of palettes and ELF.

I got this at Walgreens for $5 right before Halloween this past year. This product comes with a palette with 6 different colors in it, a lipgloss (which is a beautiful, cotton candy pink), a liquid eyeliner in Midnight, an eyeshadow brush, an eyeliner pencil, and a black mascara. The packaging features a watercolor look, with Ursula on the front. The eyeshadows in the palette are beautiful and pigmented. When you open up the lookbook, on the inside flaps there’s instructions for how to do night/day makeup using the lookbook. I love the whole concept of this lookbook, especially since Ursula is my favorite Disney villain. And the makeup is good quality especially for the price. If you’re a Disney villain fan I would def recommend this lookbook or one of the other villain lookbooks in the series.

Everybody has been scrambling to get these limited edition sets but I finally got one after calling four different Walgreens. I wasn’t sure I wanted to pay $55 for the Sephora Disney Princess collection but at $10 a palette for the villains, I couldn’t object.
Pros:
– Low price.
– Beautiful colors in wearable combinations.
– Lots of products, some of which are decent.
– Amazing packaging in with gorgeous watercolor renditions of your favorite Disney villains.
Cons:
– Quality is sketchy on a few of the products.
– The products, once out of the box, don’t have the Disney theme.
– Limited edition that is sold out practically everywhere.
Conclusion: I am a Disney fan and I have to admit that was the main reason I bought this palette. The second reason was I wanted to try the E.L.F. brand and thought that at this price there was no better time to do it.
Getting down to specifics, you get six eyeshadows in the Cruella set. They are not fantastic quality, but not the worst quality I have ever used. Worth it for the price? Yes, if you’re you’re okay with working a little harder to get the look better brands like MAC would easily give you. They do not show up without a primer, blend out very easily, and are hard to layer. BUT, you can totally make it work if you have the right products and application.
All of the colors (Maniac, Puppy Love, Fur, Cruelty, Eccentric, and Stolen) are gorgeous warm tones in a variety of browns, except for Maniac which is a shimmery beige. The colors remind me a lot of the Lorac Unzipped palette. Cruella might look a hot mess, but this palette is very sophisticated.
I had a lot of success applying these over Dermablend’s Smooth Indulgence Concealer, then applying the shadows wet. Edit: Using the Elf Primer does make the colors hold up a little better but be careful not to apply too much and wait for it to dry first! The first time I played with this primer, I didn’t do either of the above and the shadow turned flaky when I began to blend it. Applying the shadow on bare skin is pointless, it does not last.
The brush that comes with this set smells weird and I couldn’t get over it. It also shed a bit and was a little thin, but it was real hair. That said, Target brand brushes (Essence of Beauty?) are much nicer for almost the same price.
Some of the products I liked were the liquid liner (very black, nice applicator) and the mascara wasn’t bad either. It’s not volumizing, but it is waterproof. The eyeliner pencil is just okay, kind of waxy and did not want to go on over such powdery eyeshadow, but it is very black. The lipgloss is not very pigmented but doesn’t smell and gives decent shine. Edit: some of these products don’t contain paraben, but the eyeshadows do.
Finally, I’ve got to mention the packaging. I do not usually care about packaging unless it’s defective, but these books are *SO* pretty. The insides are just plain plastic but the watercolor outsides and the way they frame the products is just cute. The outsides are made of a THICK, strong cardboard with a nice hidden magnetic closure. They look and feel sturdy, and like they cost a lot more than $10. I love the watercolor art on these — I love it so much! I will try to upload a few pics of these once my camera charges.
