The Champagne Collection eyeshadow palette was a recalled limited edition release from a few years ago, and when I recently saw one in TK Maxx I bought it out of pure curiosity remembering the huge outcry over it. It contains five powder shades; Chardonnay (white-gold shimmer), Champagne Toast (medium copper-brown shimmer), Cordial (mauve matte), Cognac (warm brown matte) and Bordeaux (warm plummy brown).
I don’t think the eyeshadow palette ever got a UK release as it wasn’t considered to be of a good-enough quality, so I had zero expectations for it from the get-go, but… I’m actually really enjoying it; the mattes are easy to blend and have very little fallout, whilst the two shimmers feel creamy and have a nice glow to them. I’m not familiar with BECCA eyeshadows so can’t say if this is different from their typical formulas, but I have no complaints with it – the feel and performance is what I expect from eyeshadows at the brand’s price point (all day wear, with no colour fade and no to very little creasing on my heavily hooded eyes after 9+ hours of wear).
The shades aren’t unique [though a quick look-over of my collection reveals similarities, but no total dupes], but so far I’ve not done the same look twice, so there is some variety here. This eyeshadow palette isn’t available on general release, but I’ve still clicked yes for repurchase, because if I find another one of these palette’s (I’ve been specifically looking for it) in TK Maxx I’ll buy it for sure – this is a great ‘everyday’ colour-story, in a slick toss-in-a-bag-and-go compact.

I just returned this to Sephora today. After being so excited to have ordered this palette before it sold out, you can only imagine my disappointment when I received it and it was not good quality. I love Becca products and I love Jaclyn Hill so I thought this would be a match made in Heaven. I was wrong. I like the colors of the palette except the more brown shimmer looked orangey on me but the pigmentation SUCKS. It is equal to drugstore eyeshadow. And I paid $40 for this so it went right back to the store. And apparently there’s a reason it sucks and I am not the only one that thinks so. Sephora has pulled it off the shelves and will not be releasing it with the other products later this month. It is somewhat “recalled” due to the fact Jaclyn is also not pleased in the quality of it.

This palette was a disappointment as much as I hate to say it. When I first applied it I was shocked because it wasn’t the same quality as the other Becca palettes. The pigmentation isn’t as great and something was off. I decided to look on youtube to see other reviews and I found this:

Because I’m limited on my characters for this review and because I don’t want to type out verbatim what this video explains, I will keep it short.
I returned my palette to Sephora yesterday. I explained to the girls there why I was returning it and one of them actually said that she heard they were thinking about taking it off the market. And if you go on Sephora.com and look it up, the entire collection is still there with the Sold Out stamp except this eyeshadow palette. I wonder if they’re still going to release it in stores with the rest of the collection this month.
Do your research, ladies!!! And try to refrain from buying this.

I’ve really liked my Becca e/s palettes so far (Ombre Nudes is HG material), so when I heard about this palette, I excitedly ordered it as soon as it was available. I can’t say that I like it as much as the others.
The color range is interesting. I like that there are two super shimmery shades (a true champagne gold and light bronze) along with mattes. The shimmer is abundant, but very fine, so it’s not glittery. The middle shade is a medium matte neutral-almost-plum/pink shade. The last shade is a raisin color–not quite plum, not quite brown. The fourth shade, a warm brown matte, reminds me of one of the colors in the Ombre Rouge palette–I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the same color. This color combination isn’t great–champagne, bronze and plum don’t sound terrible, but for some reason, the warm bronze and muted plum don’t work together IMO.
The texture is nice, as these are finely milled and very smooth. The mattes are not quite as pigmented as Ombre Nudes, which is a disappointment, so you have to pack of them on to get more color. Over a primer they last about 4 hours on me before they fade, which is also a little disappointing, as I expect at least 6 hours of wear.
This is ok, but I don’t see myself using it often and have thought about taking it back to Sephora. The shimmers are beautiful, but the matte shades didn’t blow me away.
