I received this as a gift several years ago. It is a “Sephora Professional” clear case/box with silver metal, black velvet lining on the inside bottoms, 1 tray that slides in and out, and 2 keys for the lock on top. I think it is the Clear Tool Box because it looks like the Midnight Tool Box. I think this clear style is now discontinued and is only sold in black (Midnight). This box is very useful and functional, and I like the quality. I also like the fact that it’s see-through, so it’s easy to find stuff. However, it gets sort of dirty if I leave it in the bathroom. Also, I don’t think I’d travel with this and I don’t know if I myself would pay the retail price.

I have the small $35 Midnight Tool Box, which is basically a mini version of the larger train cases. It’s the perfect size for me because I needed something I can travel with. Plus, I don’t have that much makeup anyway (just the basics, no big collection), so almost everything fits in this case. I love how sturdy and well-built this thing is, and it definitely looks impressive. My boyfriend wanted to know if it was a storage container for radioactive materials or something when he first saw it (yes, he’s a bit of a science dork).

This is a review for the Midnight and Metro train cases, which are the same except for color. I find these poorly designed. The foldout trays are too shallow to hold much of anything, and the bottom is just a big pit with a few dividers. I might as well put my makeup in a shoe box! I much prefer the Sephora Midnight Studio train case, which allows for more careful organization.
