I thought I’d love Drop Shot. I sometimes use a little jojoba or argan oil in my foundation to sheer it out make it apply more smoothly. And Drop Shot did just that. So it does what it’s supposed to do, and does it well.
What is ISN’T supposed to do is make me break out like a teenager. And Drop Shot did just that, and did it very well. At first, I thought I was having an allergic reaction to something, but taking Benadryl didn’t help.
So I went to the Urban Decay website and looked at the ingredients in Drop Shot…
Well well well, guess what I found? Wheat Germ Oil, which is at the top of the comedogenic scale with a score of 5. And Soybean Oil, which scores a 3. No wonder why it’s made me break out! There’s two known pore-cloggers in it, the worst one being near the top of the ingredients list.
And to think that Urban Decay recommends that you smear this on your face on a regular basis. Hell no!!!
The packaging is the only thing that Urban Decay did right: dark glass is essential for protecting facial oils. But Drop Shot is still a massive UD fail.
If you have skin with any tendency to break out, pass on this one. There are plenty of oils out there that score a 0 on the comedogenic scale.
I dropped Drop Shot right into the trash.

I lovelovelove this product. Honestly, I bought this as an impulse buy and I’m SO glad that a I did.
Drop Shot is a mix-in facial oil that is meant to be mixed in with your foundation to add more moisture to your foundation, allow for better blending and keep your foundation from caking, but it can be used in a myriad of ways, which I really really love.
For combo or dry skin (like mine), this is GOLD.
It’s basically a combination of amazing oils that soften, hydrate and nourish the skin and can be used as a base for foundation application or as skincare in your nightly routine besides adding it to a foundation.
This oil is non greasy and sinks into the skin effortlessly, a little goes a VERY long way (seriously, you only need a drop).
During the summer my skin freaks out from going in and out of AC, the high heat and humidity (I live in TX), so my skin is super dry and flaky, but gets oily quickly. This oil keeps everything uber balanced and makes my foundation and my skin super even and radiant and never makes my foundation start to look caked or cling to pores or dry patches AND it’s lerfectly formulated so that it does not affect wear time of my foundation. It’s insane.
It’s smells amazing, and comes in a glass bottle with a dropper top. It easy to use, sanitary…though I freak out that I’m going to drop it because it is glass and it’s not cheap (but so worth the $$).
Seriously, you’d never think that using an oil with or before foundation would be a good call…but this…is a holy grail for me and I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily…this has not broken me out AT ALL.
I highly recommend it for dry, combo skin, and for mature skin (I’m 35 and it makes everything so crease-less) to make your foundation and skin even, smooth, radiant, and hydrated without being heavy or greasy.
This is a must have for me. I can’t get enough of it and I will DEFINITELY repurchase.
