I am SUPER impressed with this system. My regular mani would consist of the following
A nail cleanser of sorts like OPI Chip Skip
A base coat (lately Essie All In One)
Polish of choice
Top coat (eithr Revlon gel top coat followed by a quick dry topcoat like Essie Out the Door) or Seche Vite
Essie drying drops
The above system usually gets me 1/2 a week before I start to see tip wear. I was eyeing the Formula X system for a while and decided to go for it. The Sephora SA actually tried to talk me out of it, she didn’t seem impressed with it at all. She talked me down to The System to go for $16 instead of $32. The System is AMAZING for me. I have gotten a full week out of my mani both times I’ve used it. I am not easy on my nails. I am a working mother of 2, I type a lot at work, wash dishes without gloves, scratch little backs, etc. Because my first week was with a metallic polish which tends to last longer for me, I tried it again with a cream polish before reviewing. I want to add that I did use Formula X nail polishes both times (Revved Up and Gray Matter) so I will edit this review if it doesn’t work as well with other brands. I also want to add that I feel this is a great value at $32 for 4 full size products. $8.00/polish is cheaper than some drugstore nail polishes.
UPDATE: The top coat in this system (the small click and go) got so goopy it was not usable by my 4th mani with it. Removed 3 lippies and will not repurchase because of this.

After being an OPI fan for years, I decided to try sephora’s formula x nail polish. I’ve heard so many great reviews about this product, so I decided to buy the “starter kit” called the system. The kit includes 1) the cleanse – this is used to remove all the residue from your nails, it smells like isopropyl alcohol to me. 2) the prime – this reminds me of base nail polish by Orly called the bonder… Even the orange colour is quite similar. It’s quite tacky and binds the colour to the nail. 3) formula x nail colour of your choice 4) finally, the shine – this is a very glossy protective top coat.
IMO this system is really neat and works well. The colour on my nails stayed on really well… Over 3 days without chipping and very little wear (i work in. Hospital). I’ve also tried it on my toenails and noticed it hasn’t chipped either and the top coat is still really shiny after a few days.
In Canada this set retails for – $39 Cdn which saves me about $13 because each nail polish is around $13 Cdn. Overall, this is a good starter set but I dont think its a must have.
