I finally got this in the post! I always loved essie’s ballet slippers but it was too much work to chip so quickly in a regular polish so I ordered this and amusing bouche which is supposed to be mademoiselle, off ebay (sketch!) and was a little worried it wouldn’t be authentic even though the seller was in the US. When I opened the package my heart sank. WAHHH! the cap was black, the bottle looked like a regular bottle but dipped in white latex paint (cheap), the label was in greek and arabic, and the color inside looked nothing like ballet slippers: It almost looked like a mauve beige. I thought I had been duped! I wrote to the seller asking them to verify that the product was authentic or I’d report them. They said it was 100% original. Original??? That doesn’t mean authentic, duh.
But I decided to try it instead of returning it and now it is my new HG MNBB gel! (sorry sally hansen shell we dance, you are now too beige!)
The photo i’ve added is three good coats (i’m an NW15). It doesn’t smell, it goes on quite sheer and builds up to a sweet pale pink that isn’t bubble-gum-barbie whatsoever (unlike bubble bath gelcolor). It does streak just the tiniest bit so you have to help it along but it will level out like most gels.
I use the sally hansen led light and works great!
I’m still not sure if it’s the real deal, I tried to order from a more reputable source but apparently I can’t without a cosmetology license or something :p so I guess I’ll never know for sure. I went onto the essie website to get more details and it seems they’ve changed the names of their gels back to the regular names so I found a gel “ballet slippers” and ordered it off ebay again (I have no self control). Will updated when it arrives!
