When I paid $12 for a nail buffer, I was hoping that it would be a little more substantive than the Smooth Operator. It’s a 4-step grain (very coarse for shaping, coarse for ridge buffing, fine for smoothing and very fine for shine) with a flexible board. VERY flexible, actually. The Smooth Operator reminds me of the Fingerz buffers you can find in drugstores – at about 1/12th the price. The styfofoam-feeling middle gives me the impression that even though it reads “washable” on the label, it would fall apart even more quickly were I to take them up on that. While this is a fine shaper/buffer, it is only marginally better than the dollar brands and at this price and I could have a fresh cheap-o buffer every time I needed one for the same price as this. It comes in a very ordinary hum-drum clear vinyl sleeve. For the money, this is a poor value. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and I won’t be wasting money on another one myself.
