One of the worst Revlon products I have ever used. A fifteen dollar purchase and the texture completely wore off this after three uses. I could have gotten better results scratching my nails on the brick wall of my condo. Please save your money on this one.

Useless! It is slightly more rough than a buffer. If you use this to shape your nails or soften sharp snaggy edges, you will be doing the one fingernail for 5 minutes or more. Waste of money.

Horrible nail file. I broke my Sephora one and just randomly picked one up at the drugstore. This thing was dull after 2-3 weeks and no longer filed anything. What a waste of money.

I was SO disappointed with this nail file. I had heard that crystal nail files were much better than metal ones so I gave this a try. After one week, the nail file was SMOOTH and would NO LONGER file my nails at all

*WARNING* DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A NAIL FILE.. spent 14 dollars on it at a local drug mart and it was dull after 2 USES. Before this nail file my glass file lasted me over 2 years. This one, not even a week. Step away from this product while you can.. it is an absolute waste of your time

I wish i read this review a bit earlier… Anyway i am as well among those disappointed with Revlon glass file. In pas i thought that all of them are good and i thought Revlon will last, but it lasted just two times i used it… Just terrible product ever! Have to try Sephora, as it seems this should be good acording to many reviews..

Pros:
It’s not like those cheap glass nail file on eBay. They’re durable and does the job. They’ve lasted me for a while and still going strong.
Con:
It is a little expensive considering it’s branded and stocked in the big department store. But if you’re tired of replacing those emery boards, this is for you.
Just be careful not to drop them as they can crack.

Yes, yes, it takes down length efficiently without damaging your nails, it’s long-lasting, all that. The tip is also good for cleaning out dirt from under the nails. But for me, the area in which I find this file most indispensible is that it’s a great tool for scratching itches, if your nose or scalp starts itching while you’re waiting for your mani to dry. 5/5, will repurchase forever.

I bought this after a youtube guru raved about it….Epic fail for me.
Cheap-feeling, flimsy feeling, and does not file! I file-file-file, and nothing!!
Would much rather (and much prefer!!) my Revlon metal nail file.
This to me looks like and feels like something I would find at the Dollar Store, and yet this has a rather hefty price tag. Would not recommend and definitely will not re-purchase.

It’s a really good crystal file. My 2 bugbears are that 1. The case is really flimsy and has cracked after 3 years – this may seem picky, but when the file has the potential to last forever l reckon the case should too. 2. I still have to use my metal file to get into the corners where my nail meets skin, otherwise l end up with messy corners and a layer of nail that hangs on. It’s good for taking length down quickly. To clean it l scrub with my dish washing brush and soap.

What I really like about it is the feather light touch you can use, in fact must use. It’s strange to use in it removes nail like its a 10 grit sanding machine yet it leaves such a smooth surface. Use a light touch and pay attention otherwise you’ll end up removing to much to fast. It’s a good file. Now if they could just solve the never ending problem I have filing with my off hand…

this glass nail file has saved my nails! I bought it out of curiosity since one of my customers purchased a hundred dollars worth of them to give out as gifts. I thought it was a bit pricey at first but after searching online all about glass nail files I learned a few things that helped me make a reasonable purchase and to avoid all the phony files out there that are floating around and wearing away that still cost a ton and put shame on a good product.
Heres what I learned from a bit of research:
glass/crystal files are different terms for the same item
your file will never wear away only if the grit is acid etched and it is truly one piece of glass
most glass files grit is sprayed on and will easily wear away
all of the ones that are made in the Czech republic are a sure shot because of the standards there and the small family companies that make them
they seal the free edge of your nail so it soaks up much less water and overtime the layers of your nail hold together much better which stops all peeling and chipping of the nails completely
files much faster and more effectively no need for traumatizing clippers
may even be used on pets!
I have previously tried glass/crystal files from: nail tek, Avon, Amazon, Kbshimmer and they were either too squeaky, rough, or thick so I couldn’t file the sides of my nails or the grit wore away! Soooo glad I gave opi’s a try and will never need a new one unless it breaks! I’ve dropped it and everything so far it hasn’t broken and it’s put away when not in use so it will really last me. Nothing will ever touch my nails again as they are so much longer and stronger I have to cut them before I hurt myself!

This was the first crystal nail file I bought, and while I now alternate between it and my NailTek file, this one will always be my favorite.
I have very soft, weak nails that tend to peel into layers at the tips, and the metal files I used to use just seemed to exacerbate the problem (granted, they were not even close to high quality nail files). So when I bought a treatment to strengthen my weak nails, I tossed the nail file in, thinking it couldn’t hurt.
The texture was the hardest to get used to. Filing my nails with metal was bad enough, but crystal…oh god, the first weeks I dreaded it because it just felt like nails on a chalkboard to me. It took a while for me to transition from metal to crystal because of the texture alone.
I’m happy to report, though, that the state of my nails greatly improved with the use of the file (although the strengthening system also has helped)-the splitting and peeling of my nails has gone down drastically, and the ends of my nails are smooth, strong, and the texture hardly bothers me anymore.
The file is pretty durable, although it is glass and care should be taken. I store mine in a little box with other nail implements on my bedside table. The end of it is somewhat pointy, so be careful not to jab yourself. Other than that, it’s great.

I LOVE this nail file. I have it in two sizes – 5 inch to keep at home, and 3 inch to take on the go. It is a bit pricey at 11.95 for the small and 16.95 for the large one, but it is SO worth it. The crystal file is very durable and long-lasting. The grit is very fine, which makes the filing very quick, smooth, and easy. The file is kind of thick, but it is still possible to fit it under the nail comfortably to file the corners. It files very gently, but VERY effectively. I also use it to file my cuticles and even the dry patches on top of my hands.

Very expensive, but I love this nail file! I owned my first one then I had to repurchase after I broke it by dropping it on a concrete floor. Now, I am very careful when I use it so I don’t accidentally drop it on the ground.

This is my first crystal file. It was a lot cheaper than some, and with its ratings I decided to give it a try. It took some getting used to not having the abrasiveness if my emory board. So far so good. My nails peel a lot and I’m hoping to see this issue subside. Time will tell, but I’m happy thus far.

I bought this after reading several reviews and after buying a bunk cheapie glass file from Ulta. This is the best nail file I have ever owned, but for me it didn’t have magical properties. Here’s what’s great about it. It is a very fine grit, so it is gentle. I use mine to seal my edges and it’s perfectly safe. I’ve had mine for almost a year, use it all of the time, and it works exactly the same as Day 1; it hasn’t worn down at all. This files down nails very efficiently so that with very little effort your nails are visibly shorter, but you still have perfect control. I’ve never filed down my nails too short. It’s the perfect balance between efficient and conservative. That said, I read so many reviews wherein the writers said that the very health of their nails seemed to change – no more splitting, peeling and strong healthy nails! That didn’t happen with me. In my case, I had started using OPI Nail Envy and moisturizing my nails months before using this and was starting to see the effects of that. Splitting had been very bad before but it had improved with OPI and applications of jojoba and coconut oil. Using the NailTek file didn’t improve it above and beyond that, though, and I still get some peeling and splitting. But I love this file and will use future Ulta coupons to buy more for the office, the gym, etc. It’s worth the money.

This product is an essential must for all types of natural nails. My mom, my girlfriends, family….they all LOVE this type of file since I introduced them to this file. They last forever, come in its own carry case for easy portability, can be easily washed for sanitation, and once you try one it will become a mandatory staple in your nail arsenal. I have always kept one in my purse, on my nightstand, in my desk at work, and sometimes in my car. My mom and some of my friends keep their nails a bit long and always manicured with polish. I, on the other hand, cut and keep my nails short. Even so…I love these files!! The large size file I use for my toes. The grain is very fine so nails are never rough or jagged.

WORST crystal file EVER! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Used it for the first time and it was so rough it made my nails rigid. Next time I used it it was dull.

I wish I read reviews on Makeup Alley before I bough this product. This is the worst crystal nail file I have EVER used. It is very grainy and coarse. The most abrasive emery boards are less damaging to my nails than this nail file. Stay away.

I lurrve my OPI file! We’re very limited as to the brands we can buy here in Australia, so to be able to find a quality crystal file made me pretty happy
It’s gentle but efficient and doesn’t make that horrible squeaky noise ;/ I use it weekly to smooth out my nail tips and shorten them a little. I keep it in the tube thingy as I’ve heard they can be fragile, and haven’t had a problem. I’d consider buying another one for my purse, but I only really file my nails at home anyway…unless God forbid i broke one, eek!
ETA: Four years later this is still going strong. Love that I can wash it which keeps it sanitary. Excellent nail tool.

I bought 3 of these expensive OPI crystal files because of all the raves. I’m on my third now, they’re sooo fragile. And I’ve always been very careful with them, go figure.
I don’t notice any difference with a regular diamond file, except the OPI breaks so easily. And the tip is extremely sharp; much sharper than regular files. I’ve pricked myself with it more often than I’d like, and drew blood every time. As soon as this last one breaks, I’ll be going back to a diamond file.

Love, love, love this! I’m on number 2 (it is crystal and is definitely fragile …if your S.O. Is anything like mine, don’t expect it to last very long under harsh conditions). I bought my second and have since bought two more – one for my mom, and one for my 94 year old grandmother. Expensive fir a file, but so gentle it’s worth every penny.
