I understand the hype. It’s thick and smooth like butter but somehow it’s not heavy or greasy whatsoever. I’m very oily and this helps prolong my makeup and help it stay looking good after several hours. Now, despite the fact that it’s quite moisturizing and thick, it did not help and do much when I was dehydrated or just suffered from very dry skin due to extreme cold weather. I think this is best suited for oily to combo or slightly dry.

This product has SAVED my winter dehydrated skin. I am actually combo skin with oily t zones and dry around my mouth. I was trying out foundations and nothing was working because it would all look so dry and everything clinged onto the dry patches around my mouth area. I finally bit the bullet and bought the mini of the Vitamin Enriched and it literally became my favorite thing in my routine. after application i can just feel my skin having a sigh of relief and felt better in an instant. It felt comfortable and balanced and buttery and soft. the texture is thick but it does not feel heavy on the skin. It melts in and i knew i was ready for foundation. I then applied the Armani Luminous Silk, beautiful foundation but can be drying. I was so impressed. The face base made the foundation hg status. I dont see myself using foundation without this face base ever again. I am so happy and my skin looks so flawless and natural. I do have oily tzones and this does not make me more oily or greasy whatsoever and it will make your foundation go on smoothly and nourishes the dry patches and feels like a protective barrier. 100% repurchase in the big jar!

With fall in full swing, nights are starting to get a little nippy and chilly and that leads to intense dehydration when I wake up in the morning. So, recently I’ve been toying around with the idea of double-moisturizing (the first moisturizer as skincare and then the second layer as extra oomph and sealing in the goodness from the first moisturizer, while providing a protective layer underneath makeup). Bobbi Brown products are a bit of a status symbol but I hadn’t used anything from her line before, so I wanted to experiment with Face Base!
I didn’t know there was something of a cult following behind Face Base when I purchased it — I discovered it at Sephora and found it made foundations apply WONDERFULLY. Glossier’s Primer Rich has the same concept — Face Base a thick, hydrating cream that also doubles as a primer. Compared to Primer Rich, which broke me out in zits, Face Base has not given me any unwelcome attacks of acne or cysts. Hooray! Face Base also has a light, lemony dessert sort of smell but nothing particularly cloying… The cream itself is very thick, almost like room-temp butter, and it applies with a few strokes. Underneath thicker foundations, it makes them seem more skin-like and less mask-like (I use this with the L’Oreal 24H Infallible which can get pretty mask-like without pairing it up with anything else).
The jar packaging turns off some people… and frankly I think it’s a matter of taste. The jar is plastic, though I wish it were glass, because if I was going to shell out $60 for a cream I would want it housed in a luxurious package — asides from having “Bobbi Brown” labelling on the exterior. That being said, this is VERY expensive, but if you want a moisturizer that doubles as a primer and doesn’t contain parabens, sulfates or phthalates, BUT has beneficial ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and squalane, go for it!
I highly recommend reading the review from The Derm Review (no association with them, but I like their product breakdown on the ingredients) on this product if you’re so inclined!

It was moisturizing, but it didn’t feel greasy.Once applied, it made my face smooth and evened out my complexion. It’s important to note that while it did smooth things over, it doesn’t completely cancel out pores and wrinkles as a pore filler would. It does come at a higher price point, but it feels luxurious and does apply beautifully so I think it’s justifiable.Q

I have a sample of this product, and it’s the best primer I’ve ever used. I load up on bronzer and blush in the morning because it’s gone by the end of the day, but when I use this primer, I have to tone it down. Even over foundation and powder, the bronzer and blush doesn’t fade. I was wearing a lot of bronzer/blush earlier this week, and I was like wow, I’m wearing so much makeup and I couldn’t figure out how I got so heavy-handed, and then I realized it was the primer. It has a soft, almost balm like texture, and a little goes a long way, but it’s so expensive. If it were cheaper, I would say this is HG.

Love it! I use it as a primer and it is so good for my dry skin. I wish the tub had a little spatula built into the lid.

This stuff smells incredible. Lemony fresh & delicious. However I’m not sure what it actually does for my skin so I’m not sure I’d repurchase it. Also, as someone that has a degree in nutrition I can tell you that vitamins do not get absorbed transdermally so those claims are kind of useless for me. But the texture of the product is very nice & it is hydrating so ????

This stuff literally gave me rosacea! Might be OK if you have normal skin, however, for someone like me (with sensitive skin) this wasn’t short of a nightmare-in-a-jar! Stinks, looks odd, feels super oily/greasy (the grease kind of just sat on top of my skin) yet dried out my skin and made it feel super dehydrated at the end of the day. Too many harsh ingredients – took my skin days to recover from this disaster. And I’ll probably never get that chemical smell out of my head ever again. How people rave about this product so much, is beyond me!

Smells incredible and is the perfect primer for my makeup. I use it every morning after my shower even when I’m not wearing makeup- bc I like to get the benefits from this everyday. I have combination skin & like a natural look (don’t need my makeup to last 20 hours) maybe not suited for oily skin. Wish it came with a pump

At first I was skeptical because of the creamy texture. But when i applied it on my face, it glides very well and now, it keeps my skin smooth and hydrated.
