This product, I believe, is the balancing facial lotion, but the older version (based on adorebeauty.com.au – they mention it in the product title). Anyway onto the review, I hated this moisturiser, probably the most of anything I’ve owned.
It goes into skin and doesn’t seem to sink in, or sinks in a bit and leaves a tacky feeling the whole time rather than an oily one. I do have sensitive skin though and this product did succeed in not making me break out or get a rash etc. My skin is dry and I can’t tolerate the stickiness. Everytime I use it, I blend it with sukin because that tones down the tacky because it also feels creamier and oilier on the skin.
I feel like the ingredients of this product are way too basic for the price tag: glycerine is a hella cheap humectant and when it’s one of the top ingredients without enough oils, it leave your shin feeling tacky, and in dry winters, glycerine takes moisturise out of the skin’s deeper layers into the top layer. In humid summer though, this lotion is helllaaaa tacky, can’t stand it. Bought it for the green tea and rosehip component but can’t smell the former nor feel the latter.
If I was given this in a blind test, without the nice glass packaging and popular brand name, I would’ve thought it was a cheap moisturiser. Even the cheap ones from the supermarket I’ve used in my teens feel better than this.
I just hopped onto the antioxidant bandwagon though and realised this contains various ones: green tea, lycopene, vitamin e. But all very low down the list in ingredients so I’m not sure how useful they would be at doing anything.
For reference/comparison, the balancing lotion ingredients are: Aqua (water), Glycerin (vegetable), Sweet almond oil, Glyceryl stearate, Cetearyl wheat straw glycosides (and) cetearyl alcohol, Aloe vera leaf juice, Avocado oil, Evening primrose oil, Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) seed oil(and) caprylic/capric triglyceride (and) vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry) seed oil (and) helianthus annuus seed oil (and)tocopherol, Lycopene, Acai oil, Oat extract, Calendula officinalis flower extract (and) glycine soja (soybean) oil, Green tea leafextract, Vitamin E, Ginkgo biloba leaf extract, Witch hazel, Sodium stearoyl glutamate, Xanthan gum, Citric acid, Dehydroacetic acid(and) benzyl alcohol, Rosemary leaf extract, Parfum, Coumarin, Eugenol, Linalool.

although my face is quite oily, this is probably the second best moisturizer I’ve ever used. It also serves as my primer, as it eventually stops being greasy or slippery once you put it on. Although I’ve got a new moisturizer now (which has also the same effect as this), this is something that is worth a try

have tried for more than a month, it cause redness and give me acne, will not buy again.

Goes on nicely & works as a primer but this gave me pimples!! Also smells interesting, in a herb like way. I would recommend the Sukin sensitive skin moisturiser instead as a natural alternative, which smells lovely, feels matte, is $10 compared to trilogy’s $35+ product & DOES NOT CAUSE PIMPLES.
I really wanted to like this given the price for it, but it just broke my skin out & also wasn’t moisturising enough. Packaging is also a glass pump pack (like many of trilogy’s other products) so it isn’t very practical either.

My skin is on the oily side of combination, and I find this moisturiser is very good for me in cool, dry climates, like in Wellington NZ, but slightly too rich for me in warm humid climates, like when I’m visiting Brisbane, AUS in summer. I used this moisturiser sparingly on a daily basis – I found a pea sized amount was sufficient for my whole face; others with drier skin may want to use more. It’s not mattifying, and I do find I have a slightly oily T-zone through the day, but this can easily blotted. I didn’t get any breakout and I definitely think it improved my complexion overall. this product works well as a night cream too and is brilliant under makeup. Love the smell too – I think it’s the rosehip oil.
recommended for those aged 30+ with combination skin. Have just ran out and I will be replacing it. Pros – good as daily moisturiser for combination skin in a cool, dry climate. a small amount goes a long way. organic & not tested on animals.
Cons – packaging is generous, but glass pump bottle is heavy for travel, and hard to get the last of it out of the bottle. 1 lippy off as it has no SPF

I love the trilogy range, and this is no exception. It is humid here atm, and i am finding this very moisturising, but haven’t yet put it to the winter test. No breakouts, a single pump does my whole face, and another my neck and chest. Very affordable for a 100ml product which uses good quality ingredients. It also has green tea extract which is good for acne prone skin, but not a harsh chemical. Love it, also recommend the firming serum and of course the rosehip oil.
EDIT… Noted some breakouts with this product.

I really wanted to like this product after all the good reviews, but this was really not for me. According to their website this was recommended for oily or combination complexion compared to using the vital moisturiser one.
The packaging is really nice, the bottle comes with a pump and a seal cap to keep the product fresh. Price is rather on the more expensive side, at £26 pounds which you can buy name brands for.
The reason why i couldnt give it a better review is because this moisturise didnt moisturise at all. During the winter i normaly wear 2 moisturisers to make up for the cold weather but even this didnt work with the energising lotion on top. When i wear it on its own during the day, after applying my skin still felt really ‘thirsty’. I have used this product for 2 weeks now but cant really bear to use it any longer as it does not hydrate my face at all. It does not give me any dry patches although i can feel my nose being a little flakey now but i can definitely feel that its not enough as the skin isnt soft or subtle. Might be better on normal skin 🙁

I absolutely love this moisturiser – definitely HG for me! I have always had relatively normal skin, but I’ve started leaning towards the oily side lately with summer approaching. This moisturiser is a great thick consistency which spreads easily, and the pump bottle is always a bonus! I use one small pump for my forehead, and one small one for each cheek and that’s the perfect amount for me. I personally love the spicy smell – reminds me of Christmas! It absorbs quickly and almost mattifies my skin so is perfect for using under makeup. After using this for a couple of weeks my skin is gorgeously soft, with no new pimples, and definitely far less oil. I paid NZ$45 for this which I personally don’t think is bad, considering it’s for 100mL not just 50mL. All round, this is an AMAZING product!

I’ve been using this alongside the rosehip oil for two years and it is by far the best natural moisturiser I’ve used.. and I have tried many if them! It is perfect for sensitive combination skin types. Does not clog the pores or cause break outs.skin feels soft and looks hydrated.I like that it does not contain harmful ingredients and doesn’t need the addition of chemicals for it to sink into skin. A little goes a long way so product does last months.expensive but it is a nice product.will buy again and again.love it!

Unfortunately this doesn’t cut it for dry skin at all, although I can imagine this would be a decent lotion for oily skin, it leaves my face tight feeling and doesn’t have any ‘slip’ so makes applying foundation a nightmare. Trilogy make some other excellent moisturizers though for dry/combo/sensitive skins – Vital cream, Ultra Hydrating moisturizer, and Very Gentle moisturizers are ALL fantastic and would recommend them all, however this one I could only recommend for oily skin.
