Some people really like this serum as a moisturiser. Its not one for me. Much prefer the TO hyaluronic acid, for example. This one leaves a sticky layer on the skin that does not sink in. I prefer something that moisturises and hydrates by being absorbed. Not one I will be buying again, having said that it seems to really work for some, not my oil prone combo skin however. Odd, sticky, tacky (as in you touch your face even half an hour after application and your finger kind of gets stuck on), not for me.

3 days in aaaaand it’s breaking me out in tiny pustules all over my face. I know this is the culprit since it’s the only new product I’ve introduced to my routine recently. I have a feeling it might be the propanediol that’s doing it, since The Ordinary seems to be fond of that ingredient and I always break out from their formulas that include it. Shame. I can’t say it was particularly moisturising either; it just left my skin feeling a bit sticky.
Update!: For some reason this doesn’t break me out and actually helps to moisturise my skin, as advertised, *if* I mix it with my usual serum. For that reason I’ve bumped it up to a 4.

My favorite thing about Deciem’s The Ordinary is that you can pick and choose what skincare products and ingredients you want to use on your skin. While many brands (such as It Cosmetics) like to use every ingredient plus the kitchen sink in their skincare products, The Ordinary tends to make different products that feature each special ingredient or effect you are looking for. You can find retinol, vitamin c, hydrating products, AHA and other acids at The Ordinary… you just won’t ever find them together in one product. So one must either be rather minimalistic or love layering to use your skincare routine products from The Ordinary.
The Ordinary’s Amino Acids + B5 is literally just that, panthenol (B5) and several different amino acids. These are all used for hydration and soothing the skin. If you are looking for antiaging or antioxidant ingredients this product won’t do that, but you can find them at The Ordinary and add those into your skincare routine along with this product. This does a good job leaving skin feeling soft and hydrated but, to be honest, this doesn’t really offer anything special that many other moisturizers already have. Definitely a nice addition to your routine, but you may not need this if you are using other well-formulated moisturizers and serums. My video review can be seen here: 8

I keep getting breakouts using this product. I would stop using it for a week until my skin calmed down and restart using it but my breakouts would come back.
This is basically a moisturizing product from the B5 and Amino Acids.
There’s not much studies out there on other benefits of amino acids. If you already have a moisturizer then you definitely don’t need this.

I really like this product. It’s one of the few products that checked all my boxes for anti-aging.
Amino acids are beneficial for the skin and not just for hydration, they can heal the skin and make it more youthful.
My skin actually looks healthier after using this for a week, it gave me a slight glow. The product absorbs well with slight tackiness that dissipates after a while (not as fast as I want it to be but better than others).
For the price, you can’t go wrong with this.

Love this serum. Hydrating and plumping and sooooo affordable!

A lightweight, moisturising serum that contains some of the components from the skin’s own natural oils. Far better than the NMF + hyaluronic acid cream on my oily skin as that was too thick. Offers a mild but noticeable boost to skin hydration and texture since I started using it a month ago or so. No, it doesn’t do anything radical in terms of targeted treatment, but it’s an inoffensive, effective and cheap way of boosting the effectiveness and longevity of your usual moisturiser, a few drops is all you need. Seems to be well-tolerated by my skin at least, I’ve not had any acne breakouts. As with most of the Ordinary’s products, this is very affordable, and as only a few drops are needed one 30mls bottle lasts me around 2 months. Very happy I bought this.
