I really like the way this feels on my skin. It’s easy to smooth on and melts into skin and can be used in layers, which is great when prepping skin in cold weather for makeup. I do not like the jar, however, and wish it would come in a squeeze tube or something that doesn’t involve potential contamination. I was also disappointed to see propylene glycol listed as the 8th ingredient in this cream. Why not use aloe or butylene glycol instead? They’re both humectants that are great for skin and would work well with hyaluronic acids in this. All the “good” ingredients are much further down the list after a bunch of chemicals I can’t pronounce.
I’m going to use this jar, but I wouldn’t buy this again. There are far too many natural products that are both more ours in their ingredients and sourcing at a much lower price point.

I got this as a deluxe sample and have been using it as a final step on my cheeks and dry areas around nose and mouth. It’s not bad but also not spectacular. Moisturizes well with no adverse effects. Not sure if I would buy — although I want to check out the version with spf.

This is one of my favorite moisturizers on the market. This Kiehls cream is a medium weight moisturizer that melts easily into the skin. I have your basic normal skin – neither dry nor oily – and it gives me the perfect level of moisture without feeling greasy. I apply it after my serum and before my sunscreen and it sits nicely sandwiched between the two with no beading or nastiness. It is marketed as an anti-ager, but I don’t really think it makes much of a difference on aging skin. If you want anti-aging starpower ingredients, use a peptide and antioxidant serum underneath this so you can get a concentrated dose. This as a moisturizer is really suitable for all ages. It has some botanical ingredients that Kiehls claims have firming effects but I’m skeptical about the utility of those. What you may notice is that this does give your skin a subtly plumped out effect because your skin is well-hydrated. It’s remarkably difficult to find moisturizers that get that balance just right, and this one does. The only thing I don’t care for with this product is the packaging. I always prefer skincare that comes in a pump rather than a jar because with the jar you are introducing bacteria every time you scoop some out. That can be a problem for the acne prone, and it can also damage any active ingredients in the product. That being said, I’d buy it again. The price is not terrible – I paid $62 for this 1.7 oz jar and it’s likely to last me six months.

A little goes a long way with this product but I found that this didn’t really do much for my dry skin. I still had to use another moisturizer with it. Wouldn’t purchase again.
Alternatively, for those with dry skin and more for night use, kiehls midnight recovery concentrate which is oil based is pretty good. It leaves skin feeling hydrated and smooth.

No me gusto la crema deja mi cara muy grasosa.
Quizás es recomendable para la noche pero sin factor solar.

Like other reviewers, I found this to be very greasy. I like the rich fluffy sorbet-like texture, and you get a nice fresh tingly sensation when you first put it on. But this cream just sits on top of your skin in a greasy layer that doesn’t seem to penetrate and sink into your skin. Not a fan, no chance of buying a full sized jar of this.
Follow up review:
After leaving this cream on for about 2 hours, it started to shed in little clumps off my face after the top greasy layer dried up. So gross, this is a really terrible product.

This is the 4th time I’ve purchased this cream. I like the feel of the cream. It’s neither too light, nor greasy. A little bit goes a long way. Overall, I am a fan of many of Kiehl’s products. I’m sensitive to scents and this cream is light in that regard. This keeps my skin well nourished without any breakouts or oily feeling.

OMG! This is one of the best day creams I have EVER used. First of all, I ordered it from Nordstrom’s during the Xmas rush and since I had spent over $50 I also received 3 samples which I loved. This cream is not heavy and absorbs so fast! It has a very light & pleasant scent. I waited a few short minutes (i don’t advise this) after the application & started to apply my primer & my skin felt so wonderfully soft. I have a sensitivity to perfumes so i try to use products that are for sensitive skin. Please give this cream a try. . I’m 50 years old and fanatical about finding the right products and will be an advocate for that product or line of products and I feel Kiehl’s has proven to have excellent products , esp. their, skin care line.

I bought this stuff on a whim when I was on holiday in Japan. Since I’m terrible with conversion rates, I didn’t bat an eyelid at how much it cost me at the time although since coming home and seeing the price it actually is, I am a bit O_O geeze do your research first girl before a splurge.
Anyway, to the cream itself.
It’s rich. Deceptively so – in the pot and even taking a bit to rub on your hand as a sample, it looks like a pretty standard cream moisturiser. I have combination skin (oily tzone with plenty of those annoying dry patches) I’ve found that it is far too rich for me to use as a day cream. I’ve tried using smaller amounts as suggested by some, but it still leaves me looking like an oil slick. It’s not a problem with it absorbing into the skin – the oiliness just sits there being oily til the cows come home.
The smell is not offensive.
As for performance, due to oiliness, it’s been relegated to once a week night cream, so I wouldn’t feel right saying it hasn’t done anything given I haven’t used it continuously.

I could have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t that when I first used it, it gave me a pimple on the side on my lips, and that was the only new product on the line. But I have been using it as an eye cream, and I have been very pleased. In the short term my undereye darkness has gone down a notch, all the area feels softer, making makeup application better. About the firming and anti-wrinkle action, can’t really tell much, for I don’t have those problems yet, but I do use this type of products as a preventative measure, and this cream has worked in the short term in my eye area.
