I expected a buttery moisturizing cream when I ordered it but the consistency is very similar to a cold cream which leaves the skin “dry” when applied. If you use it prior to make up you are not going to get a bouncy texture and a glowy finish. As for the antiaging properties, I have not seen none and didn’t expect any to be honest. It’s a very average moisturizer and definetely not worth the price tag.

I don’t know about all this rare “resurrection flower” business, but I appreciate that the packaging itself puts those words in quotes. It’s almost as if the manufacturers are as incredulous about this supposed “resurrection flower” as me, the consumer. Also, is it just me or is “resurrection flower” kind of morbid? I don’t need to bring my skin back from the dead, thankyouverymuch.
That being said, this stuff is AWESOME, and if your skin is dead, you should buy this. Also, if your skin is dry and sensitive like mine, buy this. Also, if you sleep on your face and your night cream always gets in your eyes and stings like a #$%#$^$#^, BUY THIS. For a cream without occlusive agents like silicone or water-retaining acids (hyaluronic, lactic, etc.) this product is incredibly and genuinely moisturizing. It plays well over serums, doesn’t break me out, doesn’t get in my eyes and sting, and lasts through the night, leaving my skin feeling plump and moisturized the next morning. If you have oily skin or don’t like facial products that feel at all heavy, don’t buy this. But if you’re like me and want to go to bed with #allthemoisturizer, this is a great product. It’s also not fragranced, which I love! Take all the lippies, Kiehl’s!

This cream helped me cope with the dryness from my accutane treatment. Its gentle and didn’t cause any irritation. It’s very thick and moisturizing but didn’t clog pores. I’m not sure as to its anti-aging properties but as a thick moisturizing cream its perfect. My skin looked phenomenal while using it but that’s impart to the accutane. I still use this cream because it’s non-irritating.

Well, this cream is working wonders for my skin.
The shelf sign at the store says this will “re-densify” the skin, along with “restoring” it, or some other slightly vague benefit. Now, I’ve never looked in the mirror and thought, “I’m really unhappy with the lack of density in my skin”, but I was ready to try something new and, unlike most of the Kiehl’s anti-aging moisturizers, this does not contain silicone, which is on my personal “bad ingredients” list, so I thought I’d give it a try.
The manager gave me a deluxe sample, and explained that I would need to emulsify it before application. I’ve never found that it really “emulsifies”, but I press it between my fingers for a few seconds, warming it up, before I press it in to my skin, and I’m done. You have to warm it up, and to be sure that you DON’T USE TOO MUCH! A little goes a VERY long way. If you are rubbing it in, you’ve used to much. Imagine you’ve put on too much hand lotion and you have a tiny, unabsorbed bit to get rid of, or that you’ve just gotten a little bit on your fingers by accident. That is how little you use. Do this, and it will absorb beautifully, leaving behind a soft, velvety finish.
My amazement came the morning after my first application. Lo and behold, my skin felt denser. Yep, it had been lacking in density, I guess, and now felt denser as well as firmer – not the same thing – smoother, and softer. It works wonder for my lines and wrinkles. I had been using a 15% glycolic at night. While I woke up with very soft, smooth-looking skin, as soon as I did much with my face, the lines would go back to their normal depth and definition. It was like cracking through the shell on a creme brulee: smooth face, apply makeup, cracked, lined face. With Rosa Arctica, my lines are truly improved, incredibly, like by 95%. Also, my skin is combination, with a tendency to develop small blemishes in the T-Zone with hormonal fluctuations, or in reaction to a lot of products. This not only does not cause me any blemishes, it seems to actually diminish them.
My skin feels soft and smooth and velvety. My only minor complaint is that is doesn’t look as *dewy* as some other products, like Celestial by Lush do, but the improved density feels healthier, and the disappearance of my finer lines and deeper wrinkles is astounding. Not a cheap product, but given that I use about a lentil-sized application, this jar will last months and months, so it turns out to be a great value.
Kiehl’s is generous with the samples, so I definitely recommend trying this. Just be sure to warm it up before application, and to apply so little that you think it couldn’t possibly do anything. Then let it work its magic.

Horrid! I really don’t like this cream at all. It smells awful, it is very greasy and I feel like I have a face pack on when I have used it. It is too heavy to use daily so I have resorted to using it on my feet and hands! I have gone back to my Lancome and Dior products and will not repurchase. The worst thing is definitely the smell – like you get when make up is old and has gone off in the tube. Yuk!

This cream is very gentle and does not irritate my skin. That is about where the benefits for me end. I do not see any potent active ingredients on the ingredients list. The list actually reveals a lot of filler products that I would not like to apply to me face. The price of the product does not correspond to the performance of the product. Although I did like the sample, I would not repurchase the full-sized product for these reasons.

This is a wonderful nighttime moisturizer–it’s my go-to standard. Deeply hydrating, fragrance-free, and great for my sensitive skin. The first time I used it it worked wonders on my face – cleared up my acne seemingly overnight! However, with time it becomes more like a regular moisturizer. But it works beautifully. It’s expensive, though. I’m sure there are great drugstore brands that work similarly for a much lower price.

For years I have been hesitant to try this because I was afraid such a thick cream would do a number on my skin and lead to Breakout Central. But after seeing how wonderful–and breakout free–my skin has been using the Oil Cleansing Method and argan oil, I decided to take the Rosa Arctica plunge. I had a deluxe sample size on hand so at least I wouldn’t lose any money.
The instructions say to warm the formula between your fingers before applying…and you really do have to! The first time I used RA, I applied it straight out of the jar. It felt heavy and gummy, and did not absorb one bit. But when I applied it correctly, it slid on with no problem and absorbed fairly quickly.
It’s pretty good for an anti-aging treatment. I apply it before bed over the Retin-A, add some Argan Oil on top, and the next morning, I wake up to softer, slightly plumper skin. It also help take care of some very dry patches around my nose that the argan oil by itself wasn’t touching. No breakouts after one week of use.
Would I repurchase? The price is steep and so puts me on the fence…it’s a good product but I think there’s better out there. So not saying No, not saying Yes. But I would consider it.

I don’t think of my skin as particularly dry, but it does react to silicones, fragrance, mineral oil and alcohol. I’ve used Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser for years, not because it is amazing, but because it’s simple and just adds moisture without mineral oil or fragrance. In the last couple of months I feel my age has caught up with me and I require some anti-aging or age reversing treatment so I asked for a couple of samples of this from my local counter.
It’s thick, but oddly not very hydrating on its own. I emulsified in my hands before patting on after cleansing at night. It seemed pretty thick and claggy to be honest. Anyway, as an experiment last week I added my Ultra Facial Moisturiser on top to make it more runny and spreadable and also add that hydration I needed. The last four mornings I’ve woken up to beautiful results. My skin is plumper and it seems to be fading any dark marks. I’m quite impressed and I will purchase when I’ve run out of the two sample sachets I was given. It seems to me to be more of an anti-aging treatment rather than a moisturiser.
EDIT: Still using this after purchasing a jar–two months later and I’m still really happy with it as an anti-aging treatment and applied as described above. People with less sensitive skin may not find it strong enough, but if you have problematic skin like me give it a try.

You must emulsify this first and then apply to the face. This is key.
Although this is a heavy cream, it somehow absorbs very well on my skin and does keep it really hydrated. Also, it is nonirritating to my rather sensitive skin and makes my face feel soooo soft. I love all that.
However,here’s what I don’t love about it:
It broke me out on my chin (a real awful one too) and in one other place where I never have even had a breakout before. FYI, I’ve never suffered from acne and don’t normally have blemish issues and naturally have tiny pores. I think it has to do with glycerin in the 2nd ingredient (or 3rd? can’t remember), which can be clogging for some people.
I’d give 4 stars if it weren’t for the zit(s). Other than that, a fantastic cream if you have really dry skin, live in a desert/very dry climate, and want something that doesn’t need constant reapplying (it stays put like woah!).
I’m on the fence about whether I’d buy this again or not… I put in YES since I know I’m not absolute on NOT buying it, so yea, we’ll have to see I guess..
UPDATE:
So I have changed my mind and have decided NO I wouldn’t buy this again as I believe there’s many better creams out there than this. It’s also become too greasy for me, I’ve discovered. Greasy as in it just sits on top of my very dry skin and doesn’t like to absorb now. Like at all. Thus, I’ve also downgraded my previous rating of 3 Lippies to that of only 2 Lippies. It’s nice for cuticles and overly dried/damaged hands, though!
