I absolutely love this product. I used it both day and night on my cheeks and eyes. The texture is thick and it moisturizes well. Plus it doesn’t have a strong smell, which I really like. I honestly only wear this and some eyebrow pencil when I go out.
The best part, and I think more manufacturers should return to this sort of packaging, is that the bottle is made of glass. The bottle is a very pleasing teardrop shape and it feels nice to swirl your finger inside to grab the cream. I hate plastic bottles for face cream, as you never know if they leach anything, which you then put on your face.
I don’t know why more people aren’t in love with this cream. It’s simply the best. Plus it’s hypoallergenic. What more could you want?

Despite some cons, this is a great product. For me, it has certain uses and I am really loving it.
I use after Derma-rolling, when my skin is red and inflamed. I use after waxing my lip. I use it on any irrited spots. I also use it as an occlusive last step on nights when my skin needs extra TLC. It is extremely calming and soothing, and works fantastically on getting rid of redness. It is also quite moisturizing thanks to the Shea butter and plant oils, which are very high up on the list, right after the first ingredient (thermal water). Many creams, even some Avene sunblocks, irritate my sensitive eye area. This one absolutely doesn’t, it’s so soothing.
Consistency is thick, but it’s not super dense. It warms and pats on easily, unlike La Mer which has been my go-to rich cream for a while. It sinks in nicely, but not fully; it does leave a tacky feel on the skin, but it is not greasy. It’s an intense moisturizer and IMO it’s for those with very dry skin, or very irritated dry skin, skin with a compromised moisture barrier. The best way I’ve found to apply it is to put a pea size or two in my palms, and rub my hands together quickly, then pat on everywhere
It has a light fragrance that’s dissipates quickly.
The cons might be a dealbreaker for some: When applied over serums, it can pill/ball up a bit. (I find when I apply it over a light layer of oil, it behaves just fine. On its own, applied to dry skin, it behaves just fine). Some of the ingredients may be comedogenic for some folks. I’m not acne prone and don’t get acne, so they’re fine for me, but still worth mentioning.
I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement for Creme de la Mer since 2015. This is the closest match I could find so far. I’m quite happy with this cream.

First I would like to say that I love Avéne skin care. Their product range is huge, and they are affordable yet great quality.
I love this creme for day and night use, yet I mostly use it at night. It has a rich texture that absorbs into the skin relatively fast. It is extremely hydrating and soothing. After using this cream I noticed my skin was softer, smoother, and looked brighter. It helped heal patches and red spots I had on my cheeks from acne and dry skin. The scent is very fresh. Also it did not make my skin oily or clog my pores at all. I highly recommend this cream!

I was searching for a reach moisturizer night cream and very disappointed in this purchase. Although the feeling, texture and smell are very nice, it does nothing for me.

I really like this cream. I use argan oil and lock everythin with this after. The scent is really nice and love the texture and feeling.

UPDATE: I can’t use this, I tossed it to use on my heels. It balls up like crazy, I’m talking huge pieces everywhere and I dont think this does anything.
I bought this to use as an overnight cream to lock in moisture, however this is drying on my skin. It absorbs after really massaging it in but offers no moisture. It’s texture is like an airy paste.
I still haven’t found something better than Avene’s Trixera baume for an extremely nourishing cream for dry skin and/or Darphin’s intral balm, but I wanted to switch it up a bit, bad move.
I also wouldn’t use it during the day seeing I feel it does absolutely nothing.
I tried a few samples of the Darphin’s Ideal Resource line and I was soooo bummed that I hadn’t tried them earlier and bought this Avene cream in addition to Avene’s physiolift day cream (I was using the latter’s night balm) as they were much more moisturising without being heavy at all and my skin seemed glowy. So I just ordered Darphin’s Ideal Resource micro refining smoothing fluid and Darphin Ideal Resource Anti-Ageing & Radiance Light Re-Birth Overnight Cream.
If all else fails, I’ll be going back to Avene Trixera baume.
Price: About 18 euros.
Hate that it’s in a jar- I feel I always use more this way and having to dip my fingertips in clear alcohol before dipping into the jar can be bothersome.
Plus, this also balls up like crazy.

I am on my way to buy my third bottle. Clasic Avene product. I love this creme!

I love the glass container and the smell reminds me of Johnson&Johnson baby lotion. But it’s not “rich” in my opinion. This didn’t give the kind of moisture I expected. I think this would work for younger skin that needs moisture. I also thought it was slightly greasy. Not for me

After months of trying to find a good moisturizer I decided to give this one a try. I know my skin reacts well to Avène but all the other ones like Hydrance didn’t manage to hydrate my skin as I would hope.
I have atopic skin and I needed a moisturizer that would leave my skin soft and supple during the winter months. My skin reacts badly to the wind and cold temperatures but with this Extremely Rich Compensating Cream I felt that I could leave the house in the morning and not be worried about getting dry skin until the end of the day. I feel like it protects my sking against the chilly air. During winter I use this at night and in the morning and I noticed it was a bit greasy just after I applied it but now I just pull my hair up in a ponytail and let it dry a bit before going to sleep or leaving home in the morning. It works wonders and I like that the perfume is barely noticeable. It feels fresh and very nourishing on my skin.
The packaging is nice. I like that it’s made of glass. It comes with a spatula that should be used every single time to keep it clean and hygienic. Also, it helps to regulate the amount of product to apply.
I’m on my second jar and I might continue using and buying it again. I bought my first jar in November and it lasted until February. Now that weather is getting warmer I feel it might be a bit too heavy and greasy to use during the day but I will still use it at night to give my skin a boost of hydration. It did not cause me any breakouts or clogged my pores. The price is a bit high but you do get what you pay for.

I love this cream, I’ve never used any Avene products before but needed a new night cream and sort of bought it on impulse as it was cheaper than my usual (but still fairly expensive).
This cream is very thick, I have oily/combination skin but I still like a rich cream at night. It doesn’t sink in completely, there’s still some residue after rubbing in which I don’t mind as I’m only going to bed but might not be so great for the day. It’s very mild and soothing, I think it’s designed for people with sensitive skin so that may be why. It doesn’t have a strong fragrance, just a mild ‘baby’ smell lol which I don’t mind.
I’d say the name sort of says it all, it’s very very rich, my skin feels lovely in the morning. My skin looks lovely and plump and hydrated in the morning – no tightness or irritation, I’ve also had no spots even though this is really rich.
Also a note on the packaging, it’s in a jar which I love as you can get every last bit out! It also comes with a little spatula which is handy and more hygienic.
I think this will be a great cream for the coming winter months, and I will be re-purchasing.
Update: Stopped using this in morning as it made my skin very greasy all day – still great at night though and doesn’t clog pores, just re-bought this.
