Hm, I really wanted to love this product.
I have combination, acne prone skin.
I think it does a good job at moisturizing which I desperately need but it leaves a horrible dry film all over my face and neck after I wake up. I can literally rub it off. Apart from that, I havent seen special improvements in whitening or pore minimizing as it claims. I have only used it twice so far since I don’t love it, but I hope to see improvements with continued use.
At least it doesn’t seem to cause breakouts.

This Taiwanese skin care brand does not get the attention it deserves. Naruko makes well formulated and effective products at a reasonable price point. This product is no exception. It is incredibly light but super moisturizing. I have oily skin and this works so well to give me the moisture I need without leaving a heavy film or any greasiness or oiliness. It layers well under makeup and sunscreen and when I used it at night I wake up smooth and plump skin. It is ideal for summer months. I do wish it came in a pump or squeeze tube as that is more sanitary and products active ingredients.

I’ve finished my first bottle of this night jelly but in my opinion it is a very simple hydrating mask. I tested it by using before bedtime, in the shower and day time. It doesn’t gives me the wow factor compared to other products I used. I bought it as the ratings were good but I won’t purchase it again. Perhaps for normal skin it may work but not for mine.

This is a wonderfully light night gelly. Its texture resembles an extremely smooth fruit purée and smells like barley, or “raw job’s tears”. It glides on smoothly onto your skin and literally just melts into it. I found the feeling to be delightful and it is the most soothing gelly out of the 3 which I own: raw job’s, tea tree oil out and magnolia. It is great in sealing in moisture, even for my oily skin! Provides moisture without the oil. This along with the toner does not have the raw job’s tears oil which I’ve steered clear for fear of getting bumps. The moisturizer and serum contains the oil.
Basically the key ingredient is raw job’s tears because , according to Naruko, it is more potent than job’s tears itself(their previous range) and that raw job’s tears are sourced exclusively from Taiwan itself. It’s akin to the comparison between the nutrition level of whole grains and processed rice. The raw job’s tears water and oil is separated by an “expensive”(quote) machine that uses CO2 to do the job
It is stored in a deep red glass jar and a spatula is provided. It is preservative free so avoid contact with your fingers.
It is unlike aloe Vera, which is a firm gel.
Additionally, its ingredients are nowhere near to that of aloe Vera!
I don’t think this range will help you lighten your skin, but rather make it more 亮 (liàng) which means “brightened”.
Anywho, I’ll be using this as a daytime moisturizer too for it is simply light enough to do the job!
Edit: actually I find that it is way too light for a night gelly, unless you’ve layered other skincare products under it, which I tend not to do. So it suffices as a daytime moisturiser. Also, I find the Oil Out night gelly to be more moisturizing than this :/ and Niu Er said you can see how moisturizing it is based on viscosity as well. This is more liquidy than the oil out one.

Although I think Naruko products are nice & reasonably priced for “skincare”, this product doesn’t seem to do anything special so I won’t be repurchasing. I think this product works nicely as a nongreasy moisturizer to seal in any moisture & skincare underneath but personally, I don’t think it works differently than plain aloe vera.

SCENT — I really like the scent of this over the Magnolia line. It has a very light fragrance that is so familiar but I can’t quite put my finger on — sweet bread? tapioca? I don’t know but it’s not offensive and is “fresh” & slightly sweet smelling.
.
TEXTURE — It’s also a very interesting texture — like a viscous liquid that is white & somewhat translucent but when applied, feels quite cool and spreads like water.
.
HOW IT FEELS ON — This creates a film on my face that stays on all night & doesn’t rub off. However, I don’t like that it leaves my skin feeling tight. Yet, if I were to touch my face, it’s supple & smooth, not sticky or greasy. It’s not drying out my skin but feels tight because of the film that it creates — much like applying a clear facial mask. It’s very hard to explain.
.
I’ve used this for months & it doesn’t whiten or do anything it claims except seal in moisture & skincare. Overall, a good nongreasy moisturizer that you can rinse off in the morning but not different than aloe so not worth the extra money.
.
PROS
Nice light & soothing scent
Nice & cooling on the face
Does not feel greasy or sticky.
Great for sealing in moisture/skincare by creating a film
Nice glass jar that comes with a scoop
Film created does not rub off throughout the night.
.
CONS
Have to scoop it out
Drying feeling when on the face
Overpriced for what it is
Does not do anything else it claims besides seal moisture

Good hydrating and slight brightening (if you use the rest of the range together) night jelly. It does NOT whiten at all. Keeps the skin well hydrated, dewy and soft. It comes in a nice glass jar and a spatula. It doesn’t do anything in terms of firming but if you are after a good hydrating night jelly, this is a good one. I am on my 3rd jar now.

I am so far happy with naruko’s range of night gellies. This one is meant to whiten n nourish. It smells amazing 🙂 like sweet barley and skin feels velvetty smooth upon application. It’s definitely much more comfortable than the magnolia night gelly. Upon absorption, skin felt supple n soft. I would say it does provide a nourishing effect, however it did not deliver in the case of whitening. Perhaps I must use this long term. It does not firm/tighten which is why I revert back to using the magnolia gelly. However this product is very soothing and smells calming and I like the way my skin feels after this. I chose the option of yes (will repurchase) because it is fairly good for what it sets out to do, however I was experimenting and bought this on a whim. Personally, I will not repurchase as Im looking for a firming/anti-ageing line. That said, I would recommend this for younger under 30 skin.
