   I bought this in a jumbo format of sorts, because I’d always heard good things about Marcelle’s skin care and I was also looking for a day cream with SPF.

   This lotion meets all the criteria: – it moisturizes well (for my normal to combo skin) yet is light enough to provide good base for makeup – doesn’t clog pores – has spf 15 yet doesn’t leave a white cast on my darker skin – doesn’t smell like sunscreen or much else for that matter.

   I usually smooth this on after washing my face and applying some toner and I really like how my skin looks nowadays. I think this lotion alone may be a bit too light for someone with dry skin but it’s perfect for normal skin. I think what also helps me is that I use a thicker cream at night so my skin doesn’t require a crazy amount of hydration in the morning. I’m willing to shell out big bucks for eye cream and night cream but for a mild day lotion, this does the job perfectly so I will definitely repurchase when I run out.

   I get very frustrated when brands like this claim to be non comedogenic, when they’re not. It has 2 high comedogenic rating ingredients, laureth-23 and stearic acid. Which are likely to cause acne.
   Also I hate sunscreen in lotion and it has retinyl palimate, aka vitamin A
   ” if the ingredient list contains “retinyl palmitate,” the formula may actually be encouraging the formation of malignant, potentially cancer-causing cells in the skin”

   Since my skin is sensitive, I need to wear something without those icky skin irritants (i.e perfume, color, chemicals…) and I thought this would be a good option. It is slightly pricey, but not enough to be a bank-breaker. I used this for a couple months, hoping my skin would adjusts or something. Adjust to what? The barely moisturizing, sticky, burning fluid I put on my face. It’s barely cream/loition, it’s like water mixed with an unknown chemical and honey (without honeys natural amazingness.) When you first apply it, it feels gross. I was forced to put a whole lotta loition in my hand, rub it in, then dab on my face. This way I avoided the burning, disgusting sensation, and it didn’t anger my face. But, doing it that way was even LESS moisturizing!!! For people who use bp, or retinoids, or aha, or any other acne/wrinkle cream, this stuff is just as benifitial as rubbing water into your skin. It doesn’t absorb, leaving you sticky enough to have your hair catching on your cheek. The only good thing about this product (hence the two lippies) is that the bottle is seriously indestructible. I switched to Simple’s creams, and it made all the difference. No pimples, no grease, no dryness, no stickiness, and no redness! I can’t guarantee it will work for everybody, or that this product won’t work for everybody, but if you want to try it, go ahead. You never know, it could be your next HG product!

   This is my go-to moisturizer that I have been using for years. As I have really sensitive acne-prone skin that can be a bit on the oilier side I need something that is non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, and alcohol free. Finding an effective daytime moisturizer for me was extremely difficult. This, however, does the job it claims to do.

   I highly recommend incorporating this into your morning skin care routine! It also has SPF which is bonus.

   The reason I reduced the score is that during winter months, I don’t find it moisturizing enough especially since Benzoyl Peroxide is a part of my daily routine. I actually get flaky around my nose and on my forehead.

   I was a long time user of their Aquarelle Aqua-Matte Hydrating Fluid until Marcelle decided to discontinue it and replace it with this one. It’s not the same. First off it has SPF which stings my sensitive eyes and not only did it broke me out it made my skin dry. Now I’m on the hunt for another moisturizer….

   I wanted to try this lotion because I usually like Marcelle products and I prefer fragrance free skincare. Unfortunately, this lotion makes your face very shiny, which is fine if you plan to wear makeup over top, but not if you plan to skip foundation. The consistency is very thin. Personally I prefer a thicker cream, but it might be good for people with very oily skin. The pump bottle is nice but the lettering on the outside wears off easily. Overall, not worth the money.

   I have sensitive and acne-prone skin. This is a great oil-free, scent-free moisturizer. I am also very conscious about the condition of my skin and preventing premature aging, so the SPF 15 is an asset.

   I will continue to use this product.

   What it claims:
   “A fine, light and oil-free texture offering hydration and comfort while protecting your skin against UV rays. Hydrates without clogging pores or leaving your skin shiny. Leaves the skin supple and soft. Protects the skin against UVA and UVB rays.”

   Claims – True of False?
   1) Fine, light and oil-free texture: More or less true. While the product itself doesn’t feel or look that heavy, it did not properly soak into my skin, even with different application methods (applying to damp skin, applying to dry skin, applying a pea sized amount)
   2) Offering hydration and comfort: True and False. Hydration was minimal in the dryer areas of my face, while suffocating my t-zone.
   3) Hydrates without clogging pores: False. While using the moisturizer, my nose became congested like no other, and was infested with large white heads (mostly on the right side). These whiteheads took about 2-3 weeks to almost completely heal up after I stopped using the product.
   4) Doesn’t leave skin shiny: False. I experienced much less shine than I have with other heavier lotions, but I still experienced a LOT of shine on my nose and forehead.
   5) Leaves skin supple and soft: More so true than false. While it left the skin feeling soft superficially, it did not feel quite so supple.

   Packaging:
   While the bottle itself gives off a slight “cheap” appearance, the packaging design is efficient, (potentially) travel safe, and hygienic. The most noted flaw however is that the pump dispenses far too much product unless you press down very slowly, which even then can result in too much product.

   Consistency:
   This moisturizer has a strange consistency. Although it feels runny and liquidy, it also felt slightly greasy, and sometimes sticky. Because of this weird consistency, it tends to drag on my skin when I am trying to rub it in.

   Smell:
   As with most SPF moisturizers, one big complaint is the smell. With this moisturizer, I was able to clearly smell the sunscreen. Is that a bad thing? For me, no. I very rarely let my sense of smell influence my cosmetic choices, and as long as the scent is mild, the scent is something I do not take notice of. If you are sensitive to fragrance, it should be noted that there is no additional or added fragrances to this product.

   Ease of Use:
   Once product is dispensed, application is fairly easy. However, blending it out can become tricky, as the moisturizer seemed to almost stick to my skin. Perhaps because it does not sink in properly?

   Bang for your Buck:
   This product contains 120mL, or 4 fluid oz. At around 18 dollars, that is $4.50/Oz or $0.15/mL
   So, in my opinion, the price is very fair for the quantity. However, for a drug store product, it is on the expensive side. In my opinion, the product would easily last quite a long time, so shelling out 20 dollars isn’t something you will feel guilty about.

   Final Consensus:
   While the product is promising, it simply is not for my skin. It caused large whiteheads on my nose, added unwanted shine, left a noticeable film on my skin and did not sink in properly. Because it does allow for some decent hydration and contains SPF, it is something that I would still suggest Canadians in search of a simple moisturizer try out. For drier or oilier skin, this may not work for you.

   A nice lotion – a bit thin, it absorbs quickly and easily. Compared to my previous lotion with spf 15, it doesn’t look like it has sunscreen (no white cast, no odd shine). But, it’s not moisturizing enough for my somewhat dry skin, even in the middle of our hot, humid summer. I would recommend this for those normal skin.

    this lotion is pretty good. i have very sensitive skin and have tried a lot of product lines. marcelle seems to be the only one that doesnt irriate my skin. i was using their hydra c gel cream also great product bu no spf in it. this is a great summer time light lotion and cheap price $18.50CAN. It is very runny because of the sunscreen, you don’t need to use much.

    i have only been using it for 3 days, will update if things change, but i used hdra c for 2 months and no issues.
