I don’t dislike this product that much there’s just a few things that weird me out about it. Firstly which nobody on here as mentioned it comes out and it looks like there’s little hairs in it I think that’s the willow bark? Secondly if you have very recently washed your face this shit Burns. It burns for almost to straight minute. I haven’t noticed a difference in my oil or my acne I think it may work better for some rather than others. I don’t know I would say it’s just okay if you’re looking for moisture this isn’t the one for you

Burn’s my skin upon application & turns my whole face bright pink. I never even noticed any oil control properties or clearing of my breakouts as the whole time I wear this I’m focusing on how itchy my face feels. The other two products in this range, the Deep Pore Wash & Astringent, are absoutley perfect & so mild on my hyper sensitive, congested skin. This lotion was, however, way too harsh.

It helped clear my break outs and keep my oil at bay for the most part. I love that it’s a more natural product without all of the extra not so good for your skin additives that a lot of other products tend to have. I believe the salicylic acid in it helped. However, a few things I don’t like are the price and the smell…
I usually use my garnier anti acne bb cream when I have a flare up but I was visiting my family out of state and left my usual stash back home so I made a trip to the local Meijer and despite being a little on the pricey side this item caught my eye. I ended up paying a little over $13 which I later on ended up regretting coz if you ask me, I don’t think that such a small tube seems to give that hefty little price tag justice. Also, if you have sensitive skin I don’t think this moisturizer will be a good fit for you.. reason being, aside from the strong scent it gave my skin a slight burning sensation right after I would put it on. Even though it was only momentarily until it soaked up in my skin I can’t imagine how scary this might be for someone who has uber sensitive skin that turns red or breaks out in hives when they try something new or a little too potent for their finicky skin’s liking. Because it is marketed as a more “all natural” product I think some might mistaken it for being for sensitive skin as well but like I said with this certain product I really don’t think that’s the case. A reviewer on here previously stated that it has menthol in it which could partially explain the burning sensation that some describe as ‘cooling’ or ‘refreshing’. but that just goes to show you even more so that this moisturizer definitely isn’t for everyone.. what others found ‘cooling’ I found to be uncomfortable on my skin and salicylic acid (or even benzoyl peroxide for that matter) usually doesn’t tend to have that effect on my skin at all. So that’s yet another thing that obviously didn’t endear me to this product either.. Overall, I think it’s an ok product and it did help do what it was intended for.. but honestly for the hefty price tag that was paid for the tiny size, the unpleasant smell, and the uncomfortable sensation of it are all factors that are not going to win me over to buy another tube when I run out of it.. I would rather just stick to my Garnier bb cream with salicylic acid or try the aveeno clear complexion the next time that I have a flare up. I’m pretty sure it will be just as effective and I will get a larger quantity of the product for what i’m paying for as well..

I’ve been using this lotion for about three (3) weeks now and so far it’s really been helping my skin clear up. I was afraid at first that it would cause more more breakouts but I had to do something because my skin was horrible! I had recently broken out all over my face and my forehead and chin were especially dry and flaking with tons of pimples that wouldn’t go away. Finally after using this lotion for a week I started to see a difference in my skin. My face actually began to clear up! Now today, I have NO pimples on my forehead or chin!! I only have one (1) pimple on my face right now. I couldn’t be happier!!!
I use all of the Alba Botanical Acnedote products (Clean Wipes, Facial Scrub, Astringent, Lotion, and Treatment Gel). These products are absolutely wonderful. They really help with fighting acne, blackheads and keeping pores clean. My face feels and looks fantastic with the use of the Acnedote line.
I love that the ingredients in them also reduce the marks on my face! They take away acne marks, freckles and any other spots you might have. It also seems to do something for lines. I only have a couple but it looks as though they have been softened.
ACNEDOTE ROCKS!!! EVERYONE SHOULD TRY!!

I love this moisturizer! I picked it up on a whim from the clearance area for just a few dollars. I wasn’t expecting much for the price but I was pleasantly surprised! I have combination skin and am constantly breaking out along the jaw line. Many acne products help with the breakouts but leave my skin super flaky and dry (I don’t know what’s worse!) This moisturizer is perfect for my skin. It has a 2% salicylic acid which is effective for keeping the breakouts at bay. Yet somehow it does not dry out my skin. I apply it all over my face and my skin feels nice and supple, no tightness at all. I haven’t had such nice skin in years!! I’ll definitely keep repurchasing this product. Even at full price, it’s a great buy. I also like that it doesn’t have as many harsh chemical ingredients as most acne products on the market.

Not good. The first time I put it on I thought it was going to work out; it felt nice, smelled good to me, and it seemed to make my skin matte. Plus it’s kind of hard to find a natural moisturizer that has 2% salicylic acid. Normally I have 4-5 pimples on my face at a time but here I am 5 days later and I literally have probably 30! I am covered. A couple of them are even cystic. It’s so awful. I have to appear in court in a couple of days and I look like THIS.
To be fair, I bought this with the face wash and the moisturizer was 7 months expired and didn’t realize it until later but I don’t think that’s what’s wrong.
What a bummer 🙁
***EDIT*** I’m now pretty sure my skin has a sensitivity to menthol, which this product contains. If you know you don’t this might work well for you.

I’ve been looking for a moisturizer that worked 2X daily for 14 years. Every time I found one that seemed to be good for my fussy face (combination oily skin..dryer in winter, oily-er in summer humidity…acne-prone…medium to larger pores…SUPER unforgiving of a poor diet and me not drinking enough water…etc), it was good for a month or so then would join the ranks of half used moisturizers that I had to stop using. I started using the Alba Botanica body wash a couple years ago and fell in love, so when my walmart started carrying some Alba Botanica products and my Burt’s Bees Acne face wash just wasn’t cutting it, I tried the Acnedote face wash and FELL HARD! My new HG for sure. Been using it every day sometimes 2X/day (I try not to over wash and I rarely wear makeup every day) for over a year and a half and it has stayed just as awesome as the first week I used it. Last spring (2014) I decided to try the Acnedote Oil Control Lotion and after the first week I was HOOKED. I grimaced each time I applied, thinking surely THIS was going to be the time it went bust for me. Almost a year later and I’m still waiting…I don’t believe it will happen…ever. This stuff rocks my world under primer and makeup even. It has a mattifying effect for me. I have re-purchased it twice.

Does NOTHING to control my oil, to be honest it even has a greasy feel to it. Don’t like the smell or the texture. Horrible lotion. Really I tossed it out.

I enjoyed the scent of this and the slight cooling sensation it gives. I thought I would like using it in the summer to help cool the skin but instead it felt greasy and heavy on the skin.
As far as oil control that was a joke. As usual it only made my oily skin worse. I did use the whole tube to give it a fair trial and this for me was a dud.

This is 1% Salicylic acid. When you put it on it will burn a bit. And over a few days, if you tend to slather it on , it will dry out your skin and make it feel raw. This is not unusual from an SA treatment as SA is meant to be an exfoliant and deep poor cleanser. **Because of this, I only use it as a spot treatment or over smaller trouble areas only. Don’t use this in the same way you would use, say, the Clean and Clear acne lotions where you can apply it like a regular face lotion. It is too strong to be used this way. As far as oil control, I don’t feel it works any miracles.
