I am 40, I have very dry skin and this product did a very good job this winter.
I use it in the morning and use make-up with no issues.
For the night I use the REN evercalm overnight recovery balm + serums (Clarins double serum for the day and the Pineapple from Glow Recipe at night). For the last 3 months things were good)

I love Drunk Elephant Protini! During the winter, I wanted something more hydrating, so I decided to get this product. I love the no dyes, perfumes, and bad stuff in this product line. I have sensitive skin and appreciate the clean products. The container is really neat and makes sure that you use all the product with the pump. There is still a tiny amount of product left, open the container and use your finger to get every last drop.
I applied Protini on one side of my face, and LaLa on the other. Protini is a better moisturizer for my skin. I feel the Protini side is more plumped and hydrated. This is a good product, but not for my slightly dehydrated skin. I started to apply marula oil first and then Protini to get more hydration and that really works for me.
PRO: beautiful container, no scent, no chemicals.
CON: not hydrating, price

This product is absolutely lovely. Just as described, it is a fluffy, whipped moisturizer that sinks into my dry, dehydrated skin almost immediately and keeps my skin soft and hydrated until I wash it next. I have experienced no break outs, but I typically do not have sensitivities related to moisturizers (my sensitivities are related to avebenzone; harsh cleansers, such as sulfates; and over exfoliating [as I have a damaged moisture barrier from SD and eczema]). I also did not develop acne as a result of using this, but I almost never get acne.
Lala comes in a jar, which is usually a bad thing as it exposes the product to air and light, which destroys the added antioxidants; however, DE put an insert thing in the jar, which seals it. To get moisturizer out, you press the sealed lid, and just a bit of moisturizer comes out while the rest is still safely sealed away from air and light, protecting the product. It’s and ingenious way of having jar packaging while still protecting the ingredients from degradation. I’ll add, though, the jar is large and not easy to travel with, and I’m not aware of DE selling sample/travel sizes.
And now onto the negative: the price. It’s hella expensive! Lala sells for $60 for only 1.69 oz of product. Are there more expensive face creams out there? Of course. But there are much cheaper out there, too, and Lala contains no revolutionary ingredients or has no prestige names associated with it. There is no reason for it to be this expensive. When I use up my jar, I will return to using Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Moisturizer, which sells for $29 for 2oz (and can usually be gotten for 20% off), and feels virtually similar.
Bottom line, would I recommend this? Yes, if someone can afford it and cannot use silicones. Otherwise, there are cheaper options that work just as well that I would recommend first. I give the product five lippies because I don’t factor price into my rating (because everyone has their price limit on what they can afford) and the product itself is lovely. I have no complaints about the product itself, just the price point.
ETA: After using this morning and night for about three weeks now, I’ve noticed my skin is smoother and brighter. I’m not sure what this is due to, but there is a low amount of Vitamin C in the moisturizer (from baobab, ximenia, and passion fruit). This puts Lala’s performance above my beloved PC Skin Recovery Moisturizer.
Updated again: Okay, at this point, I feel like I shilling for DE, but this stuff makes my skin look like angels have kissed my skin. Ive been using Lala now for 1.5 months. I don’t know what exactly is so special about this moisturizer (the cerimides? the Vitamin C in some of the fruit oils that are in small enough amounts to not irritate my skin but are in high enough amounts to make a difference? the different antioxidants?), but I have realized that it has solved my skin’s dehydration! My skin is still dry, but of course, the moisturizer takes care of that, too. When I say it solves my skin’s dehydration, I mean I can use another moisturizer, and the hydration stays in my skin from using Lala the night before (but I can tell it’s not quite as hydrated as if I’d used Lala). Also, my skin glows. I will definitely switch over to Lala because no other moisturizer has had such wonderful results for my skin!

This moisturizer is good, but for the price I will not be repurchasing. There are cheaper alternatives that will give you the same results. It does not do anything extraordinary.

I used my VIP points for a sample of the moisturizer because I had been wanting to try Drunk Elephant products for the longest time after hearing such rave reviews. The texture is nice and thick which is perfect for my dry skin. I felt that it did a decent job at keeping my skin hydrated. Unfortunately the price is STEEP and I use a goop sized amount which my wallet wouldn’t be too happy about.

I wanted to hate this product due to its price but no. I got a sample and eked it out for about 2 weeks and my skin has never looked better. I’m hooked. It’s thick but somehow it soaks in and my skin has never felt softer. I’ve restrained myself to using it just at night.

It’s heavy. It feels like a typical silicone-based cream, even though there are no silicones in it. It takes about 20 minutes for this cream to get absorbed by my skin, meanwhile, it remains tacky. I much prefer Protini cream from the brand.

This face cream gave me red, cystic spots after the second night of using it.
I’m a notorious and avid user of heavy, oinctuous creams (hello Nivea classic and Weleda Skin Food!). Red, painful underskin bumps appeared after second use of this one and luckily I was able to identify the culprit pretty straight away – it was a product in a cute white and pale violet 15 ml mini jar, featured in one of the Space NK goodie bags. It was a single new product in my routine and such spot attack has not happened to me in years so I’m pretty sure it was this product! Luckily and I was able to use it up on my neck (which was perfectly fine) and discard it after a couple of days. What a shame. I’m still trying to get my skin to its state before these awful spots!
This cream has recently been reformulated and I was sooooo hoping for benefits of ceramides in it for my dry, dehydrated skin during a Scottish autumn looming. No such luck. Despite a very pleasant texture (whipped and lightweight indeed! It sinks right in), no fragrance and many beneficial ingredients it must have been a lethal combo of Capric Trigliceride (3rd on ingredients list) with Isopropyl Isostearate (4th ingredient) that did me in. I see I’m not the only one and I very seldom get spots. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
