Tibet snow From Kohinoor Chemical Company brings in volumes of nostalgia, childhood memories. We used to know the owners. One of the few snow available in our place. People relied on Tibet to beautify them. The fragrance was basic still haunting, like the smell of mother. Later on, enticing smell of a special friend arousing desires. Can not forget Tibet Snow which faded into skin, whitening a little and ready to go out ! Best wishes, luck and greetings to Tibet Snow

A classic. Love it and here’s why (if you find it boring to know how and why it works, skip to ‘So why do I love it so much again?’
This cream should not be used on a daily basis because of the sodium borate ingredient. Borates (derivatives/salt of the mineral boron/boric acid) has been around for as long as cosmetics have been used.
It’s even a vital trace mineral for our body.
It’s not thought to accumulate in the body trough the skin (it penetrates skin poorly), but you should show some restrictiveness when using Tibet snow as there are simple not enough scientifically studies about the borate contents effect on the skin.
This cream also contains a potassium derivative.
I belive the temporary very mild, transparent whitening effect is due to the sodium borate which is quite white in it’s natural form and as a bonus also hide dark under eye circles adequate.
It has been rumored for a long time that Tibet Snow contains mercury. There is no evidence for that and frankly I believe the manufacturer would do it very badly should it be the case.
I love this cream because of the boron derivative makes the bloodvessels in the skin contract, making red, irritated skin normal colored again. Personally I also find it quite soothing – it takes away any burning feeling from my skin. Som may react to it because of it’s relatively high pH value. You can correct that with patting some toner over after 15 mins.
The potassium content is antagonistical to sodium, so sodium attracts water between cells and may make your face look bloated. Potassium push the water away from between the cells making the skin look more toned.
Well, enough chemistry.
So why do I love it so much again?
Because when my skin looks tired and need to look fresh, or the morning after a late evening with a tad to much alcohol I use Tibet snow on my face and Clear eyes drops (also containing boron derivatives) in my eyes and no one could tell any difference from the well rested me.
Yes, I highly recommend it when in need only. This has been a staple in my fridge for many years since I learned it stop nicks and cuts from shaving relatively fast without the aluminium salts common in sticks aganst shaving accidents. (I would never put aluminium salts/derivatives on my skin).
It is also a good base for any product put on after and will soak up oil and perspiration slightly if not to much is used. So less is more is absolutely valid in this case. Think of it as a concentrate to put under your usual moisturizer/foundation/powder. Tibet snow work best if applied before your last product.
I buy it on my local ‘world etnic’ shop, and there it costs less than $1. I think the glass jar (micro organisms will hardly thrive in this blend, but I still use a spatula) and labelling is old fashion and cute. I hope it stays that way and the formula too.

My skin is hell oily so which turns my complexion into dark tones mostly, acne scars etc but I have personal experience of using Tibet snow whenever I get any dark spot on my face, any rash on my body, any cut injury , any kitchen burnt and believe me it’s a miracle to me. Trust me. I use it every single night except summers cus it leads to sweat. It clears ur skin, helps in betterment of complexion, in extreme winters of Karachi its a light makeup base. I jus add a few drops of my foundation n apply. Since i have oily skin so i have to reapply it after 3-4 hours specially because of my T-Zone. The only demerit of this product is its packaging. Its in heavy glass bottle n not in tube so can’t carry it in hand bag

I really like the texture of Tibet Snow, it’s a silky smooth mousse. It is mattifying which I appireciate given that my skin gets pretty oily. I am unsure about the ingredients. It comes in a smallish pot so doesn’t last very long if used everyday. It can be used as a primer. I have noticed that it tends to add radiance when my skin is dull. Smells good too.

I use it on dry elbows, windburnt skin, as a makeup primer in winter. Very unique product.
First of all, the smell: distinctive to those who’ve used it and absolutely heavenly. It smells like an old-fashioned rose garden – super powdery and floral. Sadly it goes away rather quickly, but I’d still suggest you pass this one by if you’re sensitive to fragrance. I could bathe in the stuff. It smells a lot like the Kerastase Oleo-Relax haircare line – “old lady” but in a good way! Tibet Snow has been around forever, and there were rumors of mercury content a long time ago. There’s no research in English for or against so who knows – it does contain sodium borate though. I have very sensitive skin and have never had issues, but patch test to be sure. If anything irritates in this stuff, I have a feeling it’ll be the fragrance.
Bonus points to the totally amusing ingredients and instructions included in the box. (“college girls love Tibet snow!”) As far as I can tell, it contains no whitening properties. It’s done absolutely nothing for my freckles so I can’t recommend it for that purpose.
The texture is…weird. It’s like a pearlescent whipped cream that dries matte and leaves a very slight film.
It comes in gorgeous little glass jars with embossed tin lids, and is the definitive winner of my personal Best Lotion Packaging award, even though I typically hate jars/tubs.
So if you can find it and you like rose fragrance, vintage products, and unique textures, you can’t pass it up for a couple of bucks.
