This is, as previously stated, a nice, basic moisturiser. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, and it moisturises just fine, but it really doesn’t do anything more than that. I’d expect more from Clarins, and I’d expect more for this price level, so I will finish the jar, but not repurchase.

Here in Canada, there are 3 formulations for the HydraQuench creams: a cream-gel for combination skin, a cream for normal to dry skin, and one for very dry skin. A couple of years ago I had purchased the cream-gel since I have combination skin, but I wasn’t impressed at all, it was barely moisturizing. This winter I was at Shoppers, and the SA gave me samples of this cream to hydrate my skin. I was really worried about trying it out fearing it might be too rich for my skin because even though I am turning 40 in a year, I still worry more about breaking out than about wrinkles.
Anyway, eventually I got so fed up with my dehydrated skin I went ahead and started testing the samples. I found the consistency of this cream to be pretty creamy without being thick or greasy. My skin absorbed it completely leaving no film or greasiness. Day after day I finished the two 5 ml samples I was given and thankfully no breakouts. My skin felt comfortable and moisturized, so I went out and bought the full-size and have been using it for a month now and I still do like it. Not sure if I will still be able to use it in the summer or if it would be too rich then – will have to wait and see 🙂
So if you have combination skin like me but you live in cold weather, I would definitely recommend this product. It is not a miracle product, won’t do anything for firmness or lifting, but it is a good basic no-fuss moisturizer and I personally believe that hydration is the number one weapon against wrinkles. However do bear in mind that this comes in a jar and it is fragranced, two things I know people on here don’t like, but I personally don’t mind.
